I am trying to swap out an optical drive, to do so it requires removing the palmrest/ the whole top of the system. Has anyone here done this?
Anyone know of any guides out there?

    Thx in advance.

I've had to tear down the whole system myself, it's pretty straight forward but very time consuming and you have a lot of parts you have to keep organized. If you'd like I may be able to do a written guide later but probably not a visual guide unless I have another reason to tear down again.

Once you get everything down to where you are suppose to take of the palm rest; how the heck do you get it off lol. It wont budge... im being super careful so I am trying to find someone that has experienced it. :)

Nevermind lol. I figured it out. Starting from the back I used a "plastic scribe" to slowly release the palm rest from the case it self.

lmao, then came to find out that even under all that the optical drive sits under the right speaker, which too required removal. I swear this has to be the most difficult dvd drive to get out of a system. The rest of the components are a breeze. Now that I have done it once I would say its fairly easy once you know how it comes apart. :)
