    Hey guys,

This is my first SSD. This is my first M17XR3. I have an old M1730 as well. I usually leave my laptops on 24/7 as they are my desktop replacements. However, I've noticed my M17XR3 will occasionally reboot/bluescreen and this morning it was stuck on a black screen and the computer said it couldn't find the boot drive. When I restarted, it came up fine.

So, is this going to be a common occurrence with SSD's? Is this common with M17XR3's?

My old M1730 runs 24/7 all week (running a financial app) and has no problems. I'm nervous to get rid of that laptop completely if I can't run this laptop 24/7.... it's a damn computer, why can't I run it 24/7!?? Seems silly.

    Jeff.

It's because you bought OCZ. They have the worst SSD's on the market. Piece's of sh$%.

Make sure you have the SATA slot where the SSD is in the top of the boot order. Slot 0 is the primary hard drive and slot 1 is the secondary hard drive.

i dont understand why anyone would run a pc 24/7. even a desktop. power bills much? and its not exactly going to help the longevity of the components.

I leave mine running 24/7. When they aren't in use they don't draw much power.

If you're like me, you use your desktop to host all your files that you might need on other computers.

For example, I image all my software CD's and host them on my desktop. So when I need to install Office on one of my laptops, I just copy the image down (or mount it over the network) and run the install.

Also my business documents are the same way, as well as my printer through USB. Why need to run up to my computer to put in a receipt on my business spreadsheet when I can just connect through the network and edit the document?

Ultimately it is just a lot more convenient rather than necessary. In this household we have 3 desktop machines and 4 laptops with another laptop arriving tomorrow. My desktop is generally the only one that stays on 24/7 however.
