Between the HDMI/LAN is a DisplayPort.
To the right of those 2 vertical USB ports is a USB/eSATA combo port, and to the right of that isnt an optical audio out, its the IEEE 1394A port.

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Lol yea he is... He seems soooo excited, and I wonder if he even has the laptop... doesn't show it once lol
-
let the video load then slide the little play back bar and you will see the craziest faces !!!!!
-
scary vid....I'll have nightmares.
-
The guy removed his own video prolly cuz of everyone's comments lol
-
Yeah we don't want to look at his face for a product review, unless he was a hot chick. Kinda like in p0rn .. you don't want to see the dude's face, just the chick's, thanks. lol
-
just read this in the tech specs manual:
-
added Mr. Moo's bench thread to front page.
-
thanks, i worked kinda hard on it
-
no worries...you deserved this one for sure.
the work shows....
also: added second video link as well as thread with member comments to the video.... -
Will the Q9100 show a significant difference in games when compared to a Q9000?
-
no especially since you can overclock the q9000 to
2.4 ghz.
all you need to max out a game is a q9000 and OC it -
6mb vs 12mb will make a difference.
the speed of .2 not much.
if you can afford it, id get the higher one with the 12mb cache. -
-
its like having a 1" diameter hose verses a 2" diameter one.
less water flow from the 1" verses the 2"
in essence, the 12mb will allow more data pass then the 6mb.
worth it? depends on you. i highly doubt you would notice depending on the games you play. -
i agree with ur analogy and statment for gaming, however, were u implying a 4x 'volume output'?
-
i was not mathematically trying to imply anything, i was trying the easiest form of laymans explanation for one to understand.
ADDED: Moo's BIOS thread. -
If I'm going to get the Q9100, should I go ahead and spend the extra $200 on the QX9300? Or will there be almost no notable difference?
I am planning to keep this laptop for a good couple of years, mind you.
All that $200 will go to is food/entertainment with my girlfriend. I don't know how she'll react to the fact we can't go see the new Harry Potter because "I gotz a really fast laptop sweetie". -
Expect 5-15% performance increase between 6MB cache and 12MB cache (and believe me... 15% isn't that common)...
U think it worth $550?, i don't
-
thats alot of chocolate for her
-
1) Purchase laptop
2) Dump girlfriend
3)????
4) Profit
EDIT: This site is getting to my head -
pfffft...
spend it on yourself....i am sure she gets her fair share of the fun as it is.
its your money - not hers.
-
But thats pretty cold...My GF like playing games ..... she would be madder if I didn't get it -
My birthday is in August, screw it, we don't need to eat until then
Back on topic: If I'm going to go ahead with the Q9100, should I just spend the extra $200 on the X9300? -
if you have the 200 then go for it but if your only going to be playing games then i highly reccomend the dual core CPU's
and at the most q9000 and overclock it to 2.4 ghz ... -
Q9000 or QX9300 make your choice(i recommend Q9000 :X)
-
i have to go with Moo.
both he and i are advocates of dual core cpu's over quad for anything other then CAD, a lot of VMware, and the like... -
-
we can't predict the future, but right now its useless and a year when dual cores are not very good just send it to dell and get a qx9300 1/2 the price of right now
lol dual cores have ran game just fine for a long time and so far 2 year old dual cores can still run games just fine so i personally think you will be fine -
-
there is a thread about the OCing of the Q9000.
there are also a few others with great info as well.
most are on the first page of the AW forms.
if you cant locate them, PM me and i will help get em to you. -
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yea but why not pay 100 more and get the X9300!!!
-
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
edit: 3.57! wow... how high do you think you could get a X9300
-
for now,,,, -
@Butter, I don't know. Some of the other guys have the QX9300. I only did it with Setfsb.
@Moo®, lol, true.
OK, can one of the guys with a M17x tell me what it says on your AC adapter for power output? e.g. volts and amps.
If the volts and amps are the same I will get one for my M17 even if I have to change the plug.
Sorry if it's been asked already. -
its on the Dell website
ill link it *sigh*
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...s&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=330-4128&mfgpid=202796
well it seems it doesn't have the exact voltage... but it is the same as the M6400 -
I've seen it at the Dell site already but they don't give anything accept that it's 210 watts of output.
I've looked on the net as well under the original manufacturers P/N Y044M but can't find the specs.
If any of the M17x owners would look at the output of the AC adapter that would be great. -
Output: 19.5V(19.5V)----12.3A(12.3A) -
Anyone recommend a bag (back) for carrying the m17x aswell as additional room for things such as the powerpack, routers etc.
-
i recommend the swiss gear line...
i use mine for the m15x, but my choice has a ton of room for the additional items needed as well as books and/or spare clothes...
i also took my unit to the best buy and tried a ton of packs/cases before i made my choice. -
Also the Alienware backpacks, the Orion and the Odyssey, work well for the M17x. I am using the Odyssey.
-
Assuming I've found the right Swiss Gear site, it's a camping store. Don't get me wrong, that's awesome cause I love camping, however are the bags 'fitted' to hold 17" laptops? That's what I am looking for mainly.
Ha, the way Alienware describe the Orion Backpack is, for lack of a better word, hot.
EDIT: I believe I have just now found some Swiss Gear bags, more on that soon. -
I was asked a few question by my brother today and I could not answer them.
At least no answer backed up by benchmarks.
He wants to order an M17X but here is are the questions:
1. Is there a big performance difference in between the Q9000 and the QX9300? Is it worth the $700 price difference.
2. Is there a big performance gain in game like Farcry 2, GTA, Crysis, WOW, etc... in between 4GB of RAM, 6GB or 8GB? Is it really worth a $1000 upgrade?
3. If ordering just one HDD. Does the system come standard with a RAID controler and a second HDD can be added anytime thereafter and put into a RAID config?
4. Can we expect the GTX295M SLI to come out over the summer? If not will it be possible to upgrade from the GTX280M SLI to the GTX295M SLI?
5. Can we expect over the summer an RGB LED screen? Why didn't they implement this technology?
Thank you for all the answers. -
1. There's a performance difference between the two Quads but if it's worth the cost depends on what you're using the machine for besides gaming.
2. 4Gb is all you need for gaming.
3. Buy a HDD now, a SSD later and forget RAID.
4. No GTX 295M. The 300 series cards should be the next upgrade over the GTX 280M but you'll be lucky if you see one in a notebook by summer of 2010 since they're not due for launch until late Q4/early Q1. Also just to make sure you know (because I have a hunch you don't) the mobile GTX 280M isn't the same as the desktop GTX 280. -
-
Actually no, what Phinagle is saying is not that there is a difference in the hard being scaled down between the GTX 280 desktop and mobile counterpart, it's actually just using the name.
GTX 280M is just a slightly upgraded 9800M (Core clock, mem, SP), and shares very little with the Desktop 280 besides the name.
Correct me if I am wrong.
