    Hello,

I'm planning on buying an alienware after hearing and reading fantastic reviews on it. I have some money on the side to buy an alienware, but I dont know if I want a new one. I looked around ad websites for used ones locally. I came down to either the m17 or m18.

What do you guys think about this one?

    Dell Alienware M17x R3 GTX 580m

Is it worthit? Should I give it a shot?

    thanks

Why dont you configure a new laptop with the 7970 +1080p+killer wireless(if u want it)

and haggle a price, go the main Alienware forums and click on the Alienware how to save money threads to get a rep to contact you. Those reps can give you a greater discount for a NEW laptop!

Hey welcome to the board. I'd say definitely not. Don't spend $1850 for those specs with a 580m. I spent less than a hundred more for the machine in my sig (6GB ram and just the 500GB drive) straight from Dell with full coverage warranty. Definitely do some reading and learn what hardware is worth your cash before you spend it.

Check out the threads below for tips on how to save money buying an AW and read about other's experiences, then possibly order one yourself from the AW reps here on the board:

$1850? That's a bit expensive. I got mine for $1400 all in last April this year with better CPU, twice the RAM, bigger HDD and W7 Ultimate . It should be cheaper now that R4 is out.
Why dont you check Dell outlet? You can find something similar and negotiate the price by calling them. I think you should be able to get something around $1200 or less.

    Goodluck!

Old but still a good card. Still 2nd best (675m) among nvidia lineup so there is nothing wrong with it.

Its probably better than your current card
