I recently replaced my old lousy logitech wireless mouse with a new Razer Naga, and I'm having some issues with it on my laptop. I'll first point out that it doesn't have any issues on either of my other 2 desktops, so I'm wondering if it's a compatibility issue with Alienware or something of the like.

I found one thread here already talking about it [ http://forum.notebookreview.com/side-topics/452766-alienware-m17x-razer-naga.html] and the user said that he 'fixed' it by using a different USB port. I've tried all 4 of my USB ports and it still doesn't fix the issue.

Either way, I got home installed the driver the way the maual described and restarted my computer. Mouse had no issues so I shut down my computer and went out to dinner. When I came home and powered on my laptop the computer wouldn't successfully boot(the keyboard/symobls/etc would illuminate, the fans would whir, but the alienware logo and screen weren't 'active'). I let it sit for a bit and it never booted to the windows loginscreen or anything for that matter, it was just a black screen with my keyboard still illuminated.

I force shutdown the system, unplugged the mouse and turned it back on and it booted normally again. I put the mouse in of the other USB ports and tried and once again the computer wouldn't boot up(everything would turn on, but the screen would stay black and not boot).[That was last night]

This morning I took out the mouse, turned on my laptop on and plugged the mouse in after it was booted to desktop. After a few seconds the baloon popped up saying it was installing drivers and my device(pointer device) was ready to use. I'm posting with the mouse active now, just to make sure everything works.

Obviously having to constantly unplug my mouse is a little bit of a hassle, that I can probably deal with. I'm more concerened that maybe the mouse is drawing too much power form the system or something, which may cause damage if I continue using it? Or something of the sort Does anyone else have a Razer Naga and have these issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Side note: I recently had an 'issue' with my charger which I posted here [ http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...able-isnt-fully-illuminating.html#post7170432 ] I still haven't gotten it replaced [Dell said that it wasn't covered under warranty] and I'm unsure if this could be part of the problem as well. :/

I doubt its drawing too much power considering Alienware was most likely expecting people to plug in iPods and phones.. Both of which draw a lot of USB power.

It might be a driver issue, Take this:
    Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
And remove everything Razer, try again and test it again.

    another mouse issue

Logitech unifying receivers seem to bsod r3 @boot if left in the usb slot (which is how they are designed to be used)

I have a Razer Naga as well and I have had no issues with my R2. I downloaded the new drivers and the firmware and everything has been running smoothly. It runs awesome at the 5600 dpi on any of the 4 usb ports, so it probably is a driver issue. Remember to install both the firmware and the updated drivers from the Razer site for the 5600 naga. Good luck and I hope you get it working.... it is an awesome mouse.

Could you possibly tell me which firmware and driver version you currently have installed? I downloaded what I thought to be the newest driver, and used the 'check for updates' through the Naga software panel and nothing was found.

I had a very similar issue with my Naga Epic. If I plugged it into the right side USB slots, it would BSOD randomly, and also prevent my R3 from booting, as you describe above. However, plugged into the USB slots on the left side, I had no such issues.

I had the updated firmware and latest drivers, but that didn't help.

As an aside, I stopped using the Naga Epic with my laptop as I didn't like a wire hanging from my laptop for a mouse. I was disappointed that even "wireless" mode requires a wire to the docking station/transceiver/charger be plugged into the laptop. I moved it to my desktop.

I bought the Logitech MX Precision mouse with the tiny transceiver (and much better fit with my massive hand), and I've left the transceiver plugged into the laptop since the day I got it with no issues. The transceiver is plugged into the right side-front USB slot.

I don't remember ever seeing anything or hearing anything on Logitech issues, mine with my G700 works just fine in at all times in any of the USB ports.

Driver 3.01 and firmware 1.13. I play several RTS, FPS and WoW with the naga and everything runs great, all the buttons work and just using it as a regular mouse works fine as well. I hope you get it working. I love the look and feel of the Razer products and this one has not disappointed me.

P.S. Aren't the usb slots on the right of the R3 usb 3, and the ones on the left usb 2? I wonder if this may be the issue.
