    Here come the details.

I own this m17x-R3 since December 2011. It was ordered with 6990m card.
I never had problems with it up until like May or something. Since then I experience the following problem:

    1. I start up my laptop in the morning
    2. I run it no problem until I start something that puts a lot of load on my GPU - like Diablo 3 lately.
    3. I see the tempreture of my GPU going up.
    4. When it reaches 84 degrees my PC freezes and I get black screen or BSOD

On the other hand if I go with the following scenario:
    1. I boot up my pc in the morning
    2. I restart it immidietly (I can hear that GPU fans starts to spin this time)
    3. I can use anything I want as the GPU fans will kick in.

As I said there was something like this described for M18x.

I think it started in May when I upgraded my BIOS to A10 (from the Dell website). Now no matter what I do - install unlocked A08, install A08 from Dell website I have this problem. It was the time I installed some temp mesuring software but I have uninstalled it as I read it might be causing a problem.

I have no idea what should I do now. It makes me not able to use hibernate function at all as it will make the fans not to spin and I have to reboot the pc anyway.

    Any help would be apreciated.

If I only knew what version of BIOS I had originally I'd flash my machine with it and try to test it....

ok, here is the update as it might help someone in the future.

I rolled back to A07 Bios as it might looked like it was the version that my laptop was shipped with. It solved my problem - no more bsod or hang up after the cold boot.
