I purchased an Alienware and it says 1 GB Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M.

    It's not SLI, right?

So what is the difference between this and the regular 1GB Nvidia GTX 260M?

    Thanks

Pretty sure that means it's SLI, since I have a single and it specifically said single.

That's what I thought too, but at dell outlet it says, Single, Dual, and SLI.

So why the differentiation between dual and SLI? and it says 1 GB Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, wouldn't it say 2GB for SLI?

    -edit

actually, for SLI they say 1GB as well. I do believe this is SLI. Great :D

    a few other questions -

Are all WUXGA screens the RGBled screens? Do they all have facial recognition?

Mine currently has a P8600, can I upgrade to a i7 quad later?

Can I turn off my video cards to save power consumption? Is there an onboard integrated graphics?

No you cannot upgrade to a core i7, it requires another motherboard.

There are different kinds of WUXGA screens. One of them being CCFL, the screen that came with the R1. Another is the RGB LED which comes with the R2

You can use stealth mode or do it in the bios.

Well, you do have 2GB of memory, but because both cards are being used for a single display and have to work together, you have an effective graphics memory of 1GB...

the rgb led is not offered on the r1.but the rgb led will work on a r1 you just have to be willing to pay the price to upgrade.

And completely open up your expensive laptop or let some dell tech touch it. Neither sounds good to me. Changing a processor is one thing but changing a screen on an edge to edge display is not so simple.
