I will let you know if it installs on my GTX 580M SLI :)

EDIT: Installed perfectly fine. ht_addict, just to confirm you have downloaded the right driver which supports your OS? Also you may consider re-downloading it and also try installing it in safe mode? I don't know if you can, but it's just a thought.

    Follow these steps:
    • First of all uninstall your current nVIDIA display drivers.
    • Reboot in Safe Mode (repeatedly press the F8 key after the BIOS prompt and choose Safe Mode)
    • Run your favorite registry cleaner (I personally use CCleaner), backup your registry first and choose to clean your registry to remove any remnants of the old driver (you might need to run it a couple of times until there's nothing to remove).
    • Reboot one more time.
    • Download the 295.51 nVIDIA beta drivers to your Desktop(or wherever you want)
    • Double click and let them extract the files in the default directory (C:\NVIDIA)
    • Press Cancel when it starts checking for hardware compatibility
    • Download my attached archive and extract the file
    • Cut/copy it and paste in "C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\295.51\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver"
      And replace originals
    • Go back to the "International" folder and run setup.exe
    • Continue performing normal installation steps, choosing Custom(Advanced)>Next>and check Perform a clean installation>Next and at the windows prompt choose Install...anyway
    • Reboot when prompted and voila
    • Don't forget to reenable SLi in nVIDIA Control Panel and reboot your system
    • Enjoy!

    Note for M17x (R1) users:
-Don't forget to turn off PCIe Gen2 in BIOS under Advanced > Graphic Settings.

    View attachment 295.51.zip

Please make sure you correctly followed the steps above before asking questions.

Installed smoothly and cleanly in my 580M equipped R3 using the normal process. Very slightly slower in 3dMark11 (~15 points), but that's probably within normal variance.

Having the same problem. Modded .inf file doesn't seem to work for me. :(

edit: Rebooted then tried to install again without replacing the .inf file and it worked. New drivers seems to be working well.

Folks with Dell 4xx and 5xx series cards don't need the .inf file.
Just clean current display driver and install.

I had the a problem with skype not working (i was getting the "skype executable is corrupt please reinstall" error) after driver update and somehow got it to work by doing this:

    1. clean install
    2. goto nvidia control and set skype to integrated graphics (i have it set to 580M for everything)
    3. set skype to run as administrator.

dont ask why but for me it worked somehow.

    Hope it helps

    Found a fix for Skype...

    Uninstall Skype.
Do a new clean install of Skype.
On compatibilitybility tab for the Skype installer, run as compatible with Windows 7 and as an administrator.
The install will complete normally and launch Skype.
Check the compatibility tab on all Skype shortcuts to be sure that they are set as Windows 7 and to run as administrator.

Mine now works fine with no video issues at all.

Gonna check this out now. I just tried rage which was messed up by the 290 and i had to go back to the 285 to get a smooth game (frame rates did not seem affected). Batman Arkham was much better with the 290 though and I could use the full physics AND 3d with an average frame rate of 38 (and played great). Hopefully the 295 will be at least as good as the 290 for me :)
    Back in a while...
Edit: missed saying rage is fine on the 295...

So, BM Ark City is better from the 285 for me. I tend to look at the minimum frame rate from the in-game benchmark as a good indicator of when the card is struggling. I got 17 which is way better than I have seen sometimes (as low as 3 or 4 for a split second)

    I have M17x R1 with the gtx 260

I recently tried installing the 295.51 Drivers. I used the modified inf. When I go through the setup I get an error "failed to install one of the core component which may affect driver functionality. The most recent driver that worked will now be restored." Also at the beginning of the install I get a message "window's can't verify the publisher of this driver software" and I can click to cancel or continue installation.

I gave up trying to install that and just tried to install the latest driver from Nvidia, but when I run the setup it fails to recognize my video card.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

The Verde 295.51 drivers specifically include the 260M in the list of supported cards. There should be no need for modded .inf files.

    Firstly - Katalin you're a legend.

Unfortunately, I'm still having problems. I have followed the steps and get the 'Required files are missing' error. I downloaded the other zip posted (nvdm.zip) and have returned to the 'Could not find compatible graphics hardware' error.

I'm assuming the mistake is my 'Hybrid' setup? I currently have Hybrid enabled so that my cards are detected, but tend to run with both 'disabled' usually. I also have switched the PCIe Gen2 off.

    Ideas? :(

    Thanks
