Just wondering how many of us here play SC2! And if there's enough interest I'll host a SC2 Tournament exclusive to members of this forum with a small monetary prize, paypal required!
-
I do, but unfortunately I lack the skills to be a serious competitor. Gold league-- perhaps platinum if I try hard enough.
-
-
There's wouldn't be any money on the line. Free entry, small cash prize, just for fun and bragging rights.
-
-
It would depend on the number of contestants.
Probably go for a Bo3 until finals Bo5 -
maybe we should also post profiles here? mine is here:
http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/1332270/1/airacutie/
been playing mainly season 1, I was in diamond, now just playing usually with a friend from golden league. -
You're on your way up in diamond
-
I get my pc in 2 weeks, then i can start playing Starcraft 2. I dont think i will be ready for this tourny. but if another one is hosted later, count me in.lol
-
I wouldn't mind joining, it would be fun to see a 3v3 or 2v2 tourney
.
-
None can withstand the might of my marines
-
i don't play sc2.....BUT sounds like a good idea, maybe we can even make a bf3 team!!!!
-
-
Your banelings wont even be built by the time I pwn your base
-
I wouldn't mind playing with some of you guys. I'm pretty competent as a player. I was Platinum until my girlfriend's little sister managed to put me into gold.
-
If theres enough interest, there could be a 2v2 tourney too, but doesn't seem like there is right now
.
-
so how are we going to start this?
-
I think if we can get 10players, we'll pair people up randomly and start it, 2 series bo3 knockout.
-
when? Am ready to go?lol
-
thinking about moving down to a m17 from the m18x. hows the sc experience with a single gpu?
-
-
and what race do you play?
-
The screens nice if I ignore the weird rippling though. I hear the R3's screen leaves a lot to be desired -
Works 100% okay with a single 6970 on ultra. Might not be that great with the 460 on ultra but perfect on high settings.
-
but am not in masters.. still on diamond.
pm me and ill add you up.
-
460 works fine on ultra. 50 fps on menu screen.
Though it goes down to about 20-25 for me when I do mass marines vs mass...whatever the other team has.
This keeps me around 40fps ultra -
CleaningService Notebook Consultant
I play!!!! (not very good though)
btw, with 460m (a tad overclocked) I stay around 50-60 fps and only go down to 25 fps when I have my mass carriers shooting at things lol. -
question: who of u is able to use CF in SC2?
with an older version of catalyst it worked but the newer ones do not support CF in SC2 for me.
Do you have the same problem? Do u know a way to solve it?
Thank you. By the way I'd love to play but i am on europe server so.... no go -
Just installed the free version! Can't play it yet working.

Good one! I'm interested
-
playing sc2 with forum members would be really cool..
-
*rushes to get computer setup in time*
If anyone is interested, I host a mumble service, which I can open up to the members here. (if enough interest pm me for password)
That way if anyone is looking for a game they can just pop on to see if anyone is on.
And we can have better chat then built in game chat / tease the opposing team.

Lol had 10 minutes to check it out and accidentally left igp on

So I just got a brand new Alienware M17x R3 Laptop,
with an i7-2630 processor
8 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6990 graphics card.
And I can barely even run SC2 3v3 or 4v4 on ANY settings at all.
The game starts off fine but by 10 minutes my framerate drops to 20, 10, and even goes down to 1-2 in battles.
This machine should be KILLING Starcraft 2. Even my 5 years old XPS runs this game better.
I can play The Witcher 2, and Crysis on High-Ultra no problem, so why is SC2 literally unplayable?
Ive looked all over the internet everyone just says to tweek the settings, but I get the exact same frame rates in High, Medium, and Low settings. By 10 minutes into the game the framerate just gets terrible.
Ive tried everything. Ive reinstalled the latest drivers for the 6990 as well as BIOS. Ive tweeked settings with in the game, and within CCC.
My temperature readings are normal.
Its almost like the game is forcing it to run on the integrated graphics card or something, but the problem is that I get the same performance issues on Ultra, High, Med, and Low settings....
This is really ruining my Alienware experience, please add any similar experiences or ideas and lets figure this out together! -
Have you tried reinstalling the game?

Make sure that you are on the dedicated not intergrated GPU also.
-
And make sure you are not playing in battery mode.
-
qohelet,
Ive seen from your other posts that you have been helping others with the same issue. Sounds like your a pretty big SC2 player
Unfortunately it doesnt look like anyone has been able to solve this
I have checked everything you suggested, and its weird because you have the same i7 processor and card.
Im so jealous that you are getting the game to run!
How do you know if a game is running on the dedicated and not the integrated card? Of course I have set it to do so in CCC, but I cant really tell if it is or not because the FPS is so bad. -
Doesn't that configuration have an IGP? I think ATI uses software configurations called CAP's to assign which games will use what. If you make sure you have the latest software from ATi it should assign the game correctly.
EDIT:
Oops I guess that is XFire only: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/pages/crossfirex-app-profiles.aspx -
Thanks Tweak, but yeah thats only for CrossFire....
-
Try installing the latest driver, that is, 11.8.
download here: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/1...dd_ccc_ocl.exe
And don't forget to install CAP 11.8.
download here: Rage3D
CAP is not only for crossfire users. They include game enhancements for our gpu.
Now to make sure you are running in gpu you should run CCC and gpuz:
When running sc2, once in a while look at the gpuz sensor and see if you are getting maximum clock possible, that is, 715 mhz and 900 mhz.
Good luck! -
qohelet,
Thank you for the CAP link!
This was something new that I didnt know about.
My drivers are at 11.8 so that should be fine.
With CAP, I downloaded and installed the latest, and then rebooted.
Is there anything I need to do now or were the changes automatic?
Is there a way to manually assign SC2 to the dedicated (ATI Radeon) Graphics card? -
If you are thinking of something like Nvidia whitelist, I believe we don't have it on our ati card.
When am running sc2 my gpu is always on full speed.
When the fps was dropping sharply did you see the clocks underclocking? or was it the same all the time like mine?
One way I checked this was by doing a game reply then putting sc2 in windowed mode while gpuz sensor was running. -
Well the CAP 11.8 did nothing
Ill download gpuz and run a test and let you know soon.
Really frustrated now but thanks for the help, Ive tried so many things..
Ill post again soon... -

Here is my GPUz status when running a replay on Medium settings....
Well my GPU Core Clock and Memory Clock are same as yours, but GPU load is very low and unstable... I have no idea what this means though...
Temperatures are also low.... -
I can't really help you on this one, but I can confirm that it should be running much better than this. I typically get around 90-100 fps during early game stages, and drop to around 60-70 fps during periods of displaying large numbers of units.
I can deduce however, that if your computer can run Witcher 2 and Crysis just fine (two games notorious for being graphics intensive), then the issue is software related, and not hardware related.
Good luck! And don't worry, if it does turn out that you can't get it working, just contact Dell and ask them to give you another one. I strongly recommend that if it does come to this, demand a replacement, not a refurbished model or a repair. Refurbished models almost invariably have something wrong with them, and the "technicians" that they send to your house generally seem to cause more harm than good.
Do you mind me asking what kind of fps you get on witcher 2?
