so I just notice today that the m17x has an optical drive similar to that of an apple laptop but how does it work? is there a button where you can take the disc out or do you have to go to computer>right click drive> click eject?

It's a standard slot loading optical drive.
It does have a eject button but it can not be used while the drive is installed in the laptop due to its design.

You'll either have to eject it using a OS command or using the button near the screen.
