    Hi

Im not sure which gen my M17x is but i have duel ATI mobility radeon 4870 graphics cards installed.

Earlier today i downloaded new drivers from AMD ( my mistake not getting them from dell ! )

when trying to install them however it came up with a warning that the INF file could not be found?

This left the two grahics cards not correctly working as there is no driver apprently installed on the computer aswell as no catalyst control centre etc.

I tried to reinstall my old driver i had from the last update (again i had downloaded from AMD not dell so thought there would be no problems) but it come sup with the same warning of no INF file found.

The same warning also appears when i try to do the update i got from dell ( i tried both the origional and r2 versions).

Is there any way of fixing this and getting the drivers updated or to at least a working standard again with catalyst control centre etc?

    many thanks

If you want to roll back to the previous driver try a system restore.

If you want to try getting the newest drivers for you computer, try a Clean Video Driver Installation.

To get your computer's model type msinfo32 in the start menu's search box, it should appear around the 7th line :)

i attempted the clean video driver installation method earlier and after the 15th time the graphics cards were both still installing as ATI not standard vga.
is this just a case of needing to continue to uninstall them beyond the 15th time?

(having done numerous attempts at fixing system restore only goes back a few hours when it still had the problem)

If it still won't appear as Standard VGA it means you probably had a bunch of versions of the driver installed one on top of the other.
