M17x AlienFX Themes!

Thread specifically for M17x AlienFX themes... Post away!

When sharing/attaching your themes, please note which system (R1, R2, R3) it was created on. For those of you with video capability, feel free to link/embed a youtube preview of your theme.

I will update this post shortly with tips on manual editing of the theme file for further tweaking.

Nice, looking forward to seeing some themes. Maybe I'll try to make a couple of my own and post them.

really nice themes.. these themes work for me as opposed to the other section i was just in (unsure where i was).

I am a new alienware owner (two days old), i was blown away by the standard features..

I started playing a game today on this machine, and the whole keyboard started flashing (annoying, anyone know how to stop that), i came online to see what the problem was and i noticed these themes. Any animated ones? besides the one on here, many thanks by the way.

So to sum up my post.

-anyone know how to stop the flashing while i play my game?
-any others with animated themes? (was upset i couldnt use the cylon one from the other forum post, i love battlestar!)

EDIT: I found out the reason why they werent working for me on the other page was because they were made with an older release of the program..

These newer ones work fine.. keep em coming fellas!

 

it's easy really, right click on the alienfx controller icon in taskbar, then uncheck "enable 3rd party access".

 

How do you keep the alienfx lights on your touchpad on even when you have a mouse attached?

 

if it's disabled with external mouse you can't

 

But if you don't care about that touchpad disabling feature - install a different tp driver (without it) and then you can

and after a restart the tp disabling was gone

i wonder if its possible to change themes not based on exe files? i have some *.scr files including alienware ones which should be cool to have alienFX themes on.

BTW i would like to have the the kitt themes updated for CC 25.48.

The keyboard zones are morphing slowly from one color to another, each zone with it's colors. Speakers, alienhead, text and alienhead behind are red.
When on battery both alienheads become blue and purple when charging.

The speakers and the ALIENWARE text zone also blink when a new email arrives (works with outlook).
The touchpad is white only because it's disabled 99% of the time so feel free to change it

Here's my theme I made. Its a full rainbow using all the colors on the keyboard the M17x can handle, I think its pretty cool and changes to all the colors very slowly.

It's probably too late, but I went to the mouse driver properties via the Control Panel (Win7) selected "Synaptics" and unchecked the "disable when external mouse is detected" box.

Worked for me.

 

A new theme is coming! It's sorta going to be like the police theme!

edit: its going to require the old command center though.

I just cant seem to replicate the morphing speed. Since you created it, I'm hoping for an update

 

I've tried with the new command center but they patched it. I will do some further investigation on it.

edit2: I can't seem to try to make the leds faster on the new command center sorry.

 

is it possible to downgrade the command centre to use some of the older themes, or just hope that we can find a way of getting the tempo faster.

 

No, PLEASE - DO NOT install an old version of Command Center. Given issues surrounding the 15x, I would not suggest this. Once you are on the current version of CC, stick with it. Do not roll back.

hey, can i know what CC are u guys using? mine's seems alittle bugged with the alien head not working with the colour i wanted.... i'am currently using 2.5.44.0 right now..

I have a really big problem! I tryed out the Watto tool, it is really cool... It worked perfect till it crashed once.. I thought mhm uhkay like Winamp Plugin... so i canceled the task. Restarted. When i tryed to run it again it werent doing anything at all. After a while a error popped up. Something with "Cannot connect to AlienFX Device". The same thing said the ControlCenter. I deinstalled Java, deleted the tool, reinstalled Control Center... Nothing. Now my Keyboard has no Light at all and I don't know what to do... Help? :,(

 

Did you try to deplete your cmos battery? by keeping the alienhead pressed for about 20 seconds without battery and charger?

 

So I'm guessing this threads gone dead? I'm working on a new theme hope to have it done end of this week/weekend

Hey guys, I read somewhere that you can edit theme's using the XML Notepad.
I have downloaded the app and looked at a few theme's but not sure on what I can and cannot change. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Hey there. Yes it is possible and i strongly suggest you to get Notepad++.

When installed, right click the theme file, select edit with Notepad++. When opened, head to Language and select XML.

Now, find for term

HTML:

<Actions>

, and stop at first HIT itself. Now you must see different Actions with different Zone IDs. The Color is in HTML format, use this website Html Color Codes for getting HTML codes. Edit the values and play!

PS: Didn't test this out.

 

There sure is a lot of chit in that file, but how do I know what the actions are and zones? Is there some kind of tutorial on this? How about anything that gives an explanation on the terms used in the HTML file.
