Yeh, it looks like either Crossfire is not working, or it's not in performance mode.

I cannot get out of stealth mode, any suggestions. CC is acting weird. When i manually go to the startup menu and select Alienware, alienfusion, it says everything is ok. but when i select the shorcut on the desktop or Alienware command center, it says stealth mode enabled. im lost

Dells vBIOS are modded, as Joker said. Making it difficult to use ATI drivers., Just throwing that out there. It could be causing this.

make sure you have powerplay enabled (because it throttles clocks if you disable it). if you want to disable it, simply set it to max performance on both power and battery.

make sure you are not in stealth mode.

finally, 06 scores are fairly moot for comparison purposes unless you're sporting a 920XM.

yeah im not in stealth nor anything other than high performance. The highest ive seen is 18 or so but with the highest rated cpu, dunno. This is with stock 700/1000 max with 83 max temps.

So far based on vantage results, I'm not too impressed with these 5870s. The system cost me ~$2700 vs the other R2 I have with dual 4870s that cost me $1700. That's a $1000 difference for 10-12% gain and DX 11 thrown in. Tough decision for me, don't know if I'll keep it.

single 5870 gpu score is about 7000. This one is 13000. Not too shabby don't you think? The 3dmark06 is normal because the CPU is holding it back. Stock single 5870 is abt 12,000.

We might need a Dell MR5870 inquiry thread soon. Maybe we can get a tech rep on here to explain how they messed up, and what they are going to do to get these cards running at their peak potential. I want what I paid for not a vbios neutered card. If this doesn't get solved within 30 day's I'll definitely be sending it back.

Higher temps, minor gain... Was about to pull the trigger and upgrade. Now will wait till 480's are benched. Decisions ....

Other people get 19100 on 3D Mark 06. Either you only have one card or maybe just one card working.

Something is wrong with your PC.

What we need is someone to run some benches out of the box without changing ANYTHING other than turning it on and installing the benchmarking software. The OP already admitted that this was with stock ATI drivers that were released *today*.

I doubt it. i7-720QM is the culprit. Only ~3k CPU score. You need 920XM + OC to hit 19k.

I just finally got home after being on the road to the spine doctor for 10 hours. Preliminary results are similar.

    3D mark Vantage - P12578
    Old System 4870s - P11427

    Increase - 10%

One thing I noticed, which is disconcerting is that my CPU score is a good bit lower. I might just need to swap the CPU for the one in the other system before it goes back.

    Heaven 2.0 - 53.1 fps
    Old System 4870s - 48.7 fps

    Increase - 9.3%

Those are the basic synthetics so far. I haven't finished moving my steam folder over. Will have Crysis, Lost Coast, and Batman up soon, as well as the details of my settings.

Bottom line, we're looking at about a 10% increase and an additional of DirectX 11. ( Heaven with Tessellation looks amazing on here, but I'm still playing with those settings ). This is in line with my expectations. I was expecting about 54-55 on Heaven, but this might be because of my CPU. We'll see.

    Stay tuned for more.

Your right, other people with similiar specs are getting +/- 100 points using 3d 06 and vantage, so my computers fine its just a better processor will def help with OC and good drivers.

DUDE, 920 vs 720, i loose big time. That is the culprit, sorry processor equates to +-5-6k plus double the ram and speed of it.

    @Achilleus,
Could you check if you have a 5% OC' enabled in BIOS. That would be my guess. Even with no OC' 920XM is a huge boost in 3DMark06.
