Im impressed. Currently with SLI not working in game im getting 35-40 FPS with "Gamer" graphics settings and 30 FPS with "Hardcore" settings. Anyone know how I would go about forcing SLI on, or probably cant cause its just the demo? Gameplay is great so far imo. Sorry to be so brief, just wanted to let you know that I think the game will handle just fine on our Rigs.

Well thats a little weird... performance with max settings is a little inconsistant. Sometimes its in the teens for a few minutes then it jumps to the 30's/40's. I checked and both gpu's are loaded 99% and cpu load is high constantly aswell. The skyline map performs okish albeit inconsistant but the other map is really laggy... i had to lower to gamer preset and 720p to get around 40fps.
Looks like they still havent worked out all the kinks.

EDIT: 11.2 drivers btw with the OC in my sig and my 620 turboing to 3.5ghz

Yeah i have noticed some strange inconsistency as well. I am running 11.2 with my cards @ 800/1100 and getting 40-50fps in hardcore mode @ 1680x1050. Unfortunately, it still feels choppy as hell. I flipped on vsync and it locked to 30fps which strangely felt much smoother. Overall, I am not particularly impressed, but I am more interested in the single player anyways.

oogamer, I agree skyline does seem to run better. Im surprised your only hitting that kind of FPS with CF enabled. I cant figure out how to get my 285's to run in SLI with this. Also, I have experienced what seems to be some odd glitch where the game will black out for a second then come back only to have my FPS run at a steady 13 FPS.... This has happened twice and the only way to get the game working properly again is to restart my entire system. Wonder if we will see any patches on a free demo?!

That's what I'm running and as I said in my previous post it is all over the place. Vsync helps tremendously in making the action smoother, but it is still far from perfect. I have never had a game feel choppy over 30fps, but this one does.

UPDATE: As it turns out, I am an idiot. I have been playing this whole time with Throttlestop in 'Internet' mode which I have set to turn turbo off and essentially cap the machine @ 2ghz. I put it into 'gamer' mode which lets my machine run @ 3.4ghz and voila! I am now getting a solid 55-60fps @ 1680x1050 Hardcore mode. Runs MUCH better now!

Excited that there is a dedicated 3D option to try.

Have played without 3d on hardcore at 1920 x 1080 and smooth as silk.

Will try 3D and FRAPS result too.

UPDATE: Just tried 1080p and it topped out at 33fps. I would say the average was 30. Definitely wouldn't play it at that res.

Just noticed oddity. FRAPS with 3D off, only shows 10 or 20 percent framerate. Was expecting close to double...?

Just played on my setup. No o/c or anything. Pretty much from the factory settings. I could play "gamer" pretty well. Things were still playable in Hardcore, but "Advanced" completely slowed the game down.

I too tried the vsync, but I liked playing better when vsync was off. I dunno. It just seemed to work better.

    GAME IS GREAT though.

Sorry, forgot to put that I have M17xR2 with CF 4870HD and i7 720xm RGB LED. Ran the game at 1920x1200.

My frames were pretty steady in the mid 30's. But what is odd is they stayed there no matter if I used gamer or hardcore.

Same here. This is a demo though. I'm sure they'll fix all of the bugs by the final release. A jerky 30fps in an online MP shooter isn't going to cut it.

For some reason everyone is looking forward to BFBC3 instead of Crysis2. I really liked the Multiplayer Crysis 2 demo a lot. BFBC3 gameplay is way slower by comparison, but everyone thinks BFBC3 is faster paced? So weird.

There are some small tweaks u can use to improve fps,

Create a shortcut on your desktop

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2 Demo\bin32\Crysis2Demo.exe" +g_skipintro 1 +cl_fov 85 +r_glow 0 +r_motionblur 0

Obviously from where u installed the game etc.

1st one does what it basicly says
2nd one changes field of view
    3rth one turns off glow
    4th turns off motionblur

There are prolly more of them that work from crysis 1.

Ive got 2 radeon 5770 vapor x in crossfire but with crysis not using cf my fps was a bit poo now its stable around 80 ish. ( desktop ofc )

    and bfbc3 ? :p i must have missed something ;p

I reckon the game must look awesome in 3d, tried that beta leak aswell wich seemed to run better on me pc then the demo -.-

    (ALIENWARE/DELL need to hurry up i want my R3 too :( )

u do realise that the only thing bfbc2 and bf3 have in common that its runnin on frostbite although bf3 on the latest one.

    Their both done by dice

BF3 will be along the lines of the original bf not some rip off they ported from the consoles to make a bit of extra money.

BFBC2 wasnt terrible but for competive play it sucked a fair bit with the lack of support for it, played 2 large tournaments and basicly everybody says the same about it. Its no game for competive play.

BF3 will run better then crysis 2 will tho as their not trying to break your hardware ;p

I can also confirm it runs well in both 3D and non-3D on the R3, I turned the Res down to 1600x900 in 3D and non 3d was at 1080p with no dips to unplayable levels and based on what I saw from the numbers in fraps about a 40+ fps rate for the most part. This was also running the 460m OC'ed to 800/1600/1450.

What I find most stunning is that Crytek has opted to go with a very basic system for choosing graphic modes. Before you could adjust everything in an 'Advanced' tab and now they state you will simply choose which 'mode' you wish to use.

See this excerpt taken from GeForce.com - Get the Most Out of Your GPU :

Unlike the first game, Crysis 2 doesn't have any graphical sliders or checkboxes to enable. Instead, there are three preset modes: Gamer, Advanced, and Hardcore. Gamer is the lowest setting, Advanced is in the medium setting, and Hardcore is the highest. However, there's nothing noticeably “low-res” about the Gamer setting, as Gamer in Crysis 2 looks drastically better than the original Crysis on Low or Medium. Furthermore, Crysis 2 applies a form of shader-based anti-aliasing on all three modes that smoothes out jagged lines far better than prior approaches, without additional unwanted blurring.

I can also state that I noticed very little difference in both visual quality or fps in either 'Gamer' or 'Hardcore' mode.

Are you sure that Crysis 2 is not using xfire? When I run HWINFO32 in the background it shows GPU 0/1 utilization both at 99.9%.

Sorry, I thought they were one in the same. Battle Field Bad Company. I thought people were just being lazy and shortening it to Battle Field instead. Apparently Battle Field has different types of games? One comedy, the other one serious?

Or is this another Modern Warfare instead of Call of Duty Modern Warfare

I really think we will see much better upon game release. I think this is just a buggy demo and no where near as optimized as we will get at launch.

seems i forgot the latest cap, runs a fair bit better now.

feels like a console game tho.

Game looks great but i guess we'll have to wait for the full game to get the rest of the multiplayer :p

( ffs just got told by dell that they will be releasing the r3 at the end of march apperently, thats in holland tho :(. have to wait longer till i can try this out on it :( )

Nvidia cards handle the features nicely, but your Xfires are still top-notch.

I had the same results as well. With SLi, in hardcore mode, and my GPUs undervolted but overclocked to just 600/1600/1025 (Core/Shader/Memory), I am getting around 45-50 FPS average at 1200p. Good stuff!

Deferred Shading certainly helped Crytek in implementing nice flashy lighting without taking a serious toll on the frame rates.
