Are these drivers the latest ones compared to what you get on the alienware disc? Also, a few are not working which are OSD app and Ricoh R5C833. Thanks for setting this up.

Well neither the P9700 or the T9900 can be easily found. I am serious about testing out another CPU. I might put my P8700 back in over the weekend to test that out more. What ever I don't like I sell to Moo. ;)

Did you plan on upgrading it or keeping it since it is OC'ing nicely?

It seems nothing has gone above 3.33Ghz. Probably a voltage limitation in the system. I'm guessing that's why the T9900 and the x9100 aren't available for this system. CPUgenie is a voltage tool I will probably play with also this weekend.

Yeah I want to know if a P9700 can get the same gains as a P8600 because of it's lower TDP. With .53Ghz the P9700 would OC as fast as your X9100 OC.

They were just officially introduced on the 2nd so I don't expect to see the P9700 and T9900 for sale retail yet but Intel lists them at $348 and $530 in 1K lots.

graphics drivers issue: for 280M SLI, using vista 64 bit...

the drivers on the dell page are 175.85. i already downloaded the 186.03 from nvidia but in the New M17x driver issue thread, the first post mentions installing the 186.18. the nvidia drivers download page only shows the .03. any idea where to get the .18 from? i don't see an option/checkbox for beta drivers, but i know i've seen it elsewhere on nvidia's site before.

EDIT 1: okay, found the 186.18 drivers using google. they didn't show up earlier coz they're for the desktop gpu's. will give it a shot.

EDIT 2: okay, not going to use the 186.18 drivers coz they're for windows7 and kqmaverick is using win7.
    will proceed with 186.03.

ok...my screen has gone off. been off for about 10 minutes.

8 hrs after getting it, i guess i'm going to be using AW re-spawn? great! :(

hard-rebooted (power button for 5-8 seconds). when windows started up, the welcome screen was completely messed up. negative colours and black refresh lines along the middle etc.

the 186.03 drivers without using a modified .inf file say "cannot find devices..." when the black nvidia setup screen comes up.

edit: attached screenshot of 186.03 driver setup error.

@Mandrake: when u say don't support hybrid setups u mean not SLI + integrated drivers installed at once? that's fine with me if it optimizes the SLI 280M's.

@Mr./The_Moo: disable in bios or in device manager? in the bios, if i disable the integrated and then enable hybrid, the integrated goes to enabled and grey. should i still disable hybrid? (and have SLI?)

EDIT: if disable via device manager and not bios, should i disable before or after uninstalling the existing drivers? right now, when i unistall the "driver and software" for one of the 280s, all 3 disappear.

Aneroid what OS are you using? nvrm says in your sig... unless you are using the W7 RC?

Either way the only way at this point to select which GPU set you want to use it to select it via use of the Bios...

YAY! finally got working SLI. can see an immediate improvement in graphics :D at least for GTA IV. hopefully, will have the same effect in all the games.

fyi...the SLI indicator now doesn't show in minesweeper :p but does show in gta. and i have hot-back-ends on both sides of the laptop...so yeah, they're both definitely on.

someone, pls thank Dox for me!

edit: [start:incorrect] for the others who are reading this, pls note...no PhysX and hybrid support in the driver. but if there is some game that really really uses PX, can always switch drivers/reboot.[end:incorrect]

@Mandrake +1 rep coming your way
