    Hi Guys

I'm operating under Windows 7 and I like to use my Logitech external speakers plugged into the Green plug on the M17x. Was in a TOC25 Raid last night in World of Warcraft, and had a buddy of mine sending me chat messages on google talk in the background. The weirdest thing happened.

WoW would run fine through the speakers, but as he messaged me, the sound would crackle and the Google Talk sound would come out of the front M17x Built In Speakers along with some broken WoW sounds, then after the Google Talk sound stopped everything would return to the External plugged in speakers. Yes I checked my connections and this was from a Cold Boot.

    How weird is that?

Also, in COD: MW2 gameplay is flawless in game, but in single player I can't enjoy those cutscenes because the audio cuts out every 3 seconds. Its not a stutter thing because the video during that time continues to play fine. Unless it is?

I think these are all indications that the Win7 Dellienware audio drivers need work, however I am hoping theres not something wrong with my motherboard.

Guys i will be recieving my M17X next week as replacement for my M1730. Was wondering if anyone could tell me how to install new graphics drivers in this hybrid laptop?? Must i install 2 separate set of drivers for the 280's and the 9400?

No. Once you receive the laptop take a look at the BIOS. You will see under the Graphics option two choices -

    Integrated Graphics & Hybrid Graphics

Both must be set to ENABLED for the 9400M to be active in addition to the discrete GPUs. When installing your display driver, always be sure they are enabled so the installer will install the driver to all 3 GPUs.

See this post for an explanation on the possible BIOS settings.

for an unknown reason after format i cant manage 187.66 to work by no way. i tried everything but always black screen when 9400 and hybrid sli is enabled. not even with LV2GO modded inf. no clue.. it was the driver i was using and preferred before format.

Let the OS installs the default drivers for graphics card, restart, then use CC cleaner and install the drivers you want. This could work.

Of a note, i think the 186.82 drivers are the best ones so far specially when combo with nhancer profiles.

i installed 187.66 after format so there was no reason for all those. for me 186.77 and nhancer was the best one. however 186.82 one which i use now is ok as well.

you know what? i got the best performance in games (almost no stuttering) when used 187.66 and nhancer. with 186.64 and 186.82 i get more stuttering. still once every few minutes but i have the impression 187.66 was the best.

    really?

i have 186.82 and i just got COD:MWF2 and turned everything to max(except resolution witch is set to 1440x900) and i get almost constant 59 FPS. Crysis is running beautifully as well. No stuttering at all. I'm very happy with this driver.

I recommend to use nHancer if you haven't already.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the correct Windows 7 64-bit drivers for:

    Intel(R) ICH8M-E LPC Interface Controller - 2811 (1st generation m17x).

It's coming as an unknown device in my device manager, won't find any updates on the internet and all searches so far have come up empty.

I suspect its causing a problem whereby my DVD drive has disappeared from Windows 7 since I installed it a couple of days ago (still recognized in bios).

    Cheers, Will

Hey guys, just thought I'd toss this out there. I had an M1730 before my new M17x, and I tested pretty much every driver under the sun on it. After all testing was done, I came to the resolution that the 182.xx driver series was by far the best performing on my rig. Realizing that the M17x cards are also based on the G92 core, I was suspicious of the same results on it. After testing the various major versions out there so far, I've come to the same conclusion with the M17x. I'm running 182.67 right now and it blows away all of the rest of the drivers out there, including the 186.xx and 187.xx series. The games I play most are GRID, UT3, Crysis and Mirror's Edge. It's especially noticeable in Mirror's Edge (10FPS difference in some spots). I can't speak beyond that or for anything newer. Might be worth trying out on your rigs though and see what you come up with. :)

EDIT: You should note, it only registers as DX10 in Win7, but that makes no matter to me. Performance is performance.

That is a good point you make about drivers Elkay. I would venture to guess that the latest driver series BEFORE the GT200 came out would be some of the best for this core. Since the G92 was their flagship until the GT200 came out. After the GT200 came out they would be focusing on optimizing for it and not the G92 - maybe even making sacrifices to help the GT200 out. Anyone know what those are? I was not as attentive at that point :( lol

    Would be around June 2008.

After some digging, I see that the 175.xx series was the last one before the GT200 cards came out. They seemed to not give up on them so fast however

The fact that the 179.95 drivers that came from Dell seemed to be so popular for gaming is interesting. I can say that the agreed on best drivers for 3DMark Vantage for the GTX 280m cards is the Dox 182.46 drivers

The 175.xx series also worked well on my M1730, but a shy off from the 182.xx (sort of makes sense because generally drivers provide more compatibility/bug fixes rather than more performance gains, with some exceptions). The jump into 186.xx was a further slight drop for me, but the 191.xx and 195.xx were atrocious compared to anything prior. Let me know if you need my 182.67 INF that I made that worked for me, though I'm sure it's easy enough to dig one up or simply make yourself. I also noticed that 185.68 was the last driver that worked in Mirror's Edge with SLI up until the 191.xx series on the M1730, but that one gave corruption on my new 280Ms. 182.67 was better, anyway.

So what are the best drivers to use for gaming, 186.82 or 187.66? I have never used nhancer before, what does this add?

I use 182.67, but I'm probably one of the few to try as many drivers as I have. I also don't play the newest games, so I can't speak for compatibility. I broke P12K in Vantage with those drivers on (thus far) unmodded GPUs.

It was the 182.67 drivers and oh I was talking the P score not the GPU score. I'd have to run it again to see because I don't recall the separate numbers, but my P score was definitely highest with those, and gaming I can tell they're just generally more fluid.

I tried 182.67 and it has potentail. Some great potential. I will do 187.66 later when I get off of work.

I will also post results of them.vs the famous 182.46 dox.

the 182.67 from LaptopVideo2Go have been working well for me tonight :)

New record for M17x Stock, P10397 using this driver

I will also add that ALL the 185.xx drivers I tried (4 versions) have heavily distorted colors with the M17x, just a heads up

    To clarify the color issue,

    185.XX drivers

    Everything else

Spook, check the Adjust Desktop Color Settings tab in NVidia Control Panel. One of the drivers you installed may have left the Digital Vibrance setting at a high value.

This happened to me when reverting from the 195.55 betas. My 186.64 had widely altered color settings.

I had the same issues with the 185.xx. Worked on my M1730, which makes it slightly strange. I'm not overly worried though, the 182.67s performed better on my old G92s anyway.

After a lot of testing I went back back to Dox's 182.05, despite the .67 benching better, the .05 still out performed it in real world performance, especially in Crysis/Crysis Wars. IMO Dox 182.05 are still the top of the heap for real world gaming performance.
