    Is it me.....

I just tried to upgrade my machine to raid 0..When i looked inside it would appear Bay 0 is different to bay 1, so the second caddy i got and interposer will only fit bay 1 ( with my existing drive ) i am not able to get this connected to bay 0....

When i called Alienware support, they advised me that both the drives are the same........

Please help am i going insane or do i not have the modle i think i have

you only need the interposer for 1... you can just put the hdd in to 0 (without the interposer).

The interposer is installed in HDD0, the little piece of foam in the HDD1 caddy has the other interposer in it along with the screws. You need to attach the interposer to the drive before you load it into the caddy, then you drop the caddy into the bay and screw it down.

I thought as much....My machine came with the main drive in bay 1, so interposer already connected. I then called the seller and asked for an aditional drive so i could run raid 0. tey sent another caddy with interposer, and this does not fit drive 0. Dell advise both are the same, but if i understand you correctly, i am right and the bays have different caddies

I have an M17xR1, but both my bays are the same. I just ordered a new HDD from dell, and got the drive last night.

Pulled up the foam strip in the drive bay, found the screws and 'interposer' to put on the drive.

The drive has to go into the unit a certain way, otherwise it will not fit. So check to ensure you are putting the drive into the unit (that you screw the HDD into) the right way.

The drive is not slid into HDD1 like it is into HDD0. Attach the interposer to the HDD, mount the HDD in the bracket, and drop it vertically into the bay. If they sent you an HDD0 bracket instead of HDD1, that's on Dell and you'll have to call them again.
