Noticed Yesterday that when my computer was closed that the lid was slightly out of line by about 1/16 of an inch. Not sure what caused this but this morning I applied a tiny bit of pressure equally to both sides of the lid when closed and it moved back into the correct position. When I open the lid I always open dead center to avoid any lateral pressure that may cause undue pressure on the hinges.

I am super careful with this laptop and always place it down very carefully so not sure what caused this to happen. Sometimes I place the Orion case flat on the car seat and other times I place behind the seat. Perhaps standing upright a vibration was tramitted through the Orion case and moved the lid out of line. Nothing seems loose so not sure whether this is just normal play in the hinge. After this I will always put the laptop on the seat for now on to avoid all the weight on the lid when standing upright.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine seems to be off a bit too. I guess it could be a few measurements that were barely off in the design process.

I notice you are also using the Orion backpack. I am using the Orion case. I think the case is well made and very attractive at an incredibly low price but I do think the laptop is vunerable to vibration/force through the bottom of the case. I will probably put extra foam in to protect it.

I dont know, I just got my Orion backpack and other then putting my laptop in it I have not really used it much. I plan to start using it in the next month or so. I could be cause the bottom of the case feels like it is lacking support.

I have the same problem, it actually appears the piece of plastic on the top of the lid (not the head, the textured piece just above the hinge) is actually a little too inset now (some of the PCB is visible).

I'm blaming it on my backpack not really absorbing as much force as I would like (Targus, can't remember the product number; love it otherwise, almost seems bigger than my friends' Orion packs). What I actually did was scavenge an unused laptop case I had (from a real old thinkpad) and used the padding from that to really thicken the area where the laptop sits in the backpack (especially the bottom). It's a little tight getting the m17x in now, but I'm almost confident I could probably accidentally drop the pack from shoulder height without damaging the laptop (not that I ever mean to do that... sometimes I get tired by the time I get home).

Mine is slightly offset to the right less than 1/10 inch. Noticed it when I unpacked my system.
It's hardly noticeable so not really a big issue with me.

After adjusting it the other day it has stayed in place. I was placing the hinged side facing DOWN in the bag. Now I storing the hinge facing UP as perhaps the hinge is not meant to have too much pressure applied.

Messanger bag and backpack are great but perhaps they need some additional padding.

    Thanks for all your replys

Yeah, I added some padding to mine. I found a strip of foam used in my brothers old case that fits perfectly in my case so Im good for now.
