Did you check the fan? Could be something obstructing it or it might need to be replaced.

Might be one of them sea crickets, Matey! By the Sea Devil, those are some scallywags!

Call Dell and get the fan replaced. If you wait it can affect the temps.

    Yarrrr ;)

Well, I had exactly the same issue with my new M17x and I called Dell to get a replacement... once replaced, no more noises with the right GPU fan!

I probably have to do that aswell, it's very noticeable with an even weirder boot up sound when i start the laptop, it's also more or less only noticeable when being idle and the fan rotates slowly i guess, does not occur under full gpu load.

I would order a replacement fan and just keep an eye on your temps with gpu-z when you are gaming til the new fan shows up.

Is it normal for the main card to run approx 7 to 10 degrees hotter than the slave card?

Hehe, you're doing pretty good, i can't speak like that :D

Yeah, my master is almost 10°C consistent above the slave gpu temps, idle or under load. Would say it's normal :)

I'm using just a different thermal paste (MX-3) to the default dell paste. Master gets at 83°C max. and slave on 73°C max. using FurMark, The Fans are not going into their highest speed, i think 3rd out of 4th highest available defined rpms, games normaly dont go over 2nd speed level. When in windows browsing or idleing, the system snores silently on the lowest speed setting, Temps are 48°C on Master and 39°C on Slave without additional Mods or External Cooling at ambient room temperature 23°C-25°C.

Yep I had the same annoying cricket sounding right GPU fan noise. So so annoying that sound was. No way I was going to stand for any clicking fan noise.
It was fine until i loaded up a game or 3d mark then the fans kicked into high gear and the sound appeared. Couldn't get it to go away. The sound was ever present even from bootup when fans were running at super low rpms. This was the 1st day of receiving the machine as well. So dell of course sent out 3 new fans lol and replaced them. All good now.

I also noticed that most of the bad fans i see are mainly the grey sort of coloured ones. The ones that they replace them with are mainly the all black fans and they seem to be slightly better quality or something. I've also noticed that sometimes they ship with one grey fan and one black lol. Odd mix but hey thats life ey ehehehehe.

Yeh also my temps also differ in max GPU temps. One of them is always slightly hotter than the other. I can't remember which one now. Also my max rpms are around 3300rpm now after thermal paste change. So it doesn't it the 4k rpms anymore which is good. Less noise! woohoo ;) :D

    Cheers. :)

well, can you tell if the sound comes from top left corner? That's weird because I had same noise wen my HDD was dying but left top corner is 2nd GPU & fan... have you contacted AW tech support?

Yes, it comes from the left corner, where is located my only GPU, and not sure if this is the top or not, and it happens only when i hit that site, when i push on this as strong as the video, normal touch dont cause that.
