1)Call 1-800-283-2210 (dell update phone options)

2)Follow prompt wait #4 and do the steps below but for me they still say the same thing.

    3)Now, select business/epp selection #2

    4)Track order option #1

5)Then do it again - track order option #1

Let me us know when to change the Phone setup.

One thing you all need to look at is the dual 640gb rpm 7200 hard drives are In Raid 1 are 640 gb 5400 rpm. Alienware explain this to me. If it shown world wide Ask to talk to a Tech. Make sure it documented and the info sent to you. I order Raid 0 640 gb 7200 rpm hard drives and they where 5400 rpm. Which can slow down games.

What a Raid 1 config is basicly two drives working at the same time so if one fails the other hard drive take over. Untel you can get your hard drive replaced. Raid 0 is two hard drives working at the same time and acts as 1 Large hard drive. Which can give some speed increase in hard drive speed.

    I hope this help.

No problem Batboy. I wanted to point out the issue I had on my Order on my hard drive. Also easy access on getting info on order status unless they change there Phone access.

ANYONE WHO ORDERED AN R2 THIS PAST WEEK for US ORDERS:

Are you stuck in Pre-Production at all? Mine sure is. I know there is part backorders but I have never had a system sit in pre-production.

Usually it moves either right into production the same day I order, or at the latest it takes a day.

Mine has be in Pre-Production since I ordered on the 21st.

I didn't know you were getting another. Must be another one of those can't pass on it sleey0 deals. ;)

Anyway, when I ordered the M17xR1 when the 4870s were first released it sat in pre-production for 2 weeks.

Yeesh. I remember that, drake. lol

I hope mine doesn't sit like that for 2 weeks. The current EDD is 4/19.

I don't mind waiting for it, but it just sucks right now because I have no computer until then.

Heh, I wouldn't count on it. I'd be kinda pissed if it did because I'm FINALLY set on a laptop and it sucks having to wait a month for it. But then it also be sweet to be one of the first with CF 5870's.

My R2 has been sitting in pre-production for over three weeks now. I've been told by Dell Europe that the ATi video cards weren't in stock in the factory and they won't be available until April.

On a side note, they also warned me that it is possible (but nothing official yet) that they might not get the 4870s in stock anymore at all and get "newer models" instead. They also told me that would cause my order to be canceled and they'd have me re-order the system with the new video cards in that event. I bet that would usher in another one or two month wait for the next system. I would cancel the order for good if this wasn't a replacement system for my dieing R1, but alas, that's not an option. :(

Yep! Me included. Got mine. Beautiful, Beautiful laptop. Just got a disobedient 2nd 4870, but that will be fixed on Monday when the tech scratches up my M17x R2,....I mean when he replaces the bad card.

    So nervous about that. :D

Take time off from work and let him watch you do the job instead. I've done it before back when I owned a Dell XPS 2 and needed the screen replaced. I put so much pressure on the poor tech ("hey this is a $3000 machine, you really don't want to mess it up do you?") that he let me do all the work while he watched and signed off on it lol.

Well, mine came today (around 11:00am). I just got a chance to actually use it since it's been a buys day (I got a new car yesterday and so I've been playing with that plus picking up my insurance info and saw a movie tonight).

I have to say I'm liking the silver color and luckily the media keys work great so far.

I am a proud new member in the Alien community, Order my M17xR2 on the 5th of March. It is still in production?
Is this the normal time for the M17xR2?
Well I am glad to be here and I know that I am in good hands being apart of this forum.

Ordered a R2 on the 11th, got a email sayin' the system is in production, that i didnt fall in the "back order" catagory and that it will ship very shortly... ha ha, yea right.. we will just have to see about that.

    EDD: 8/4/2010....
MY senses tell me the DD will be sometimes around the 26th or even beginning og May.

Go with an old school Alienware area m15x, for like 800 dollars from alienware outlet. I'm determined that these things are greatest bang for buck. I'm never getting rid of mine even with a current gen m17x :D

lol, nice. I bought one for my 3 year old.

I'm itching for a gaming system considering I have no idea when my Asus will come back from repair but I'd probably pick up the Clevo W870CU bare bone for $1100. The proc in the a51-m15x is already 2 generations old.

Keyboard light and the light under the LCD went out. Same thing happened with my M17x.

Asus made me pay to ship it back and wait. Dell sent me a new system then I sent the broken one back. I really prefer to stick with Dell in the future.

Thanks, apparently you can click on the name and there's a few more pictures of it (it's my first experience with Picasa).

It really is a pretty laptop and works really well so far. I just added my second HD (my old laptop's primary HD) and I just need to clean out the old files add MS Office and I'm set.

Hmmmmm called this morning for status and i'm still in the build stage. If my EDD is 3/31 and I still need three days for boxing, i'm not getting my system till Friday at the earliest. Maybe a new M21x will get announced this week with 5870s and I can reorder that instead ;)

I ordered an m17x R2 last week and my order is in pre production. I have ordered numerous laptops from dell and usually following payment processed my orders went straight to production and build phase. Is pre production new and what exactly does it mean?

Welcome to the club ;) lol

Pre-production isnt new, but it isn't a status that you usually stay in for longer than a day or two at most. Like you, my order usually go straight from Processing --> In Production/Build.

I really don't know why it is still in pre-production. I have ordered many systems from Dell and none would sit there like this.

Even if parts are backordered it usually sits in production instead of pre. lol

I did recieve an email from my rep today explaining that there are no parts currently on back order but reps that I have dealt with have also promissed NBD and not followed through or have lied in other ways.
