So...I installed windows 8.1, but went back to 7 because 8.1 wouldn't find my drivers and I ended up with terrible graphics. So Upon going back to 7 from the restore...now my graphics are terrible in the games I play ( mainly Aion ). All I get is grey...I can move, game functions...just in all grey, so I can't see anything.

So PCIgen 2 is disabled ( think thats what its called ) and I tried other drivers katalin has made mods for...none seem to work. Any suggestions on what to do. I'm also running games on lowest settings and still getting this result.

Thanks for the quick help in advance.

Are you on the integrated or discrete? Have you tried an external monitor? Does it look the same there?

I also tried windows 8 on the m17x r1 and had the same problem. When you reinstalled Windows 7, did you format your hard drive? That may be the problem, if you dont format the drive during the install it wont delete all the settings from the previous windows.

If you did format it, you may have to reinstall again, but this time download the graphics drivers from Dell. If that works then update your drivers as you please. But first, just quickly do this to make sure:

As Alienware-L said, check in the Bios under graphics options to make sure you are on the "discrete" option. You can also just type "dxdiag" on start and look under the display tab. If it shows you have a 9400 gpu, you are on integrated graphics, so switch in the bios to discrete. If it shows your discrete card or anything else, then you will have to do a full reinstall.
