Does anyone know how to overclock the Nvidia 260m's (sli) safely? With it overclocking only when i am gaming?

i can't tell you safe values as different cards overclock differently, but just download nVidia System Tools and see what clocks are stable for you.

With NST you can also create profiles so the overclock will apply only at a certain point, i.e. at windows start-up, when running a chosen application etc.

    Cheers

LE: EVGA Precision is another good tool.

Both of them won't allow you to change the card's voltage.
So at a moment you'll hit the ceiling ;)

No you don't need to open your laptop in order to OC, but do anything at your own risk, in case of any type of damage you'll be the only one responsible
    but it's less likely :D

But didn't you open it at least to clean the heatsinks and repaste the GPUs and CPU since you bought it?

Doesn't matter if it took you 3 hours to open it up and clean it, better safe than sorry, mate, at least it's done and the system wasn't harmed in the process ;)

If the game you want to run supports SLi, then yes, apply the OC to both GPUs.

    Cheers

System tools if that's the one you downloaded and select GPU, leave other components alone.
