I been reading that R1 can use 5870m, so I decided to give it a try with very little knowledge. When I first got the GPU i repast it and inserted it. I flashed the GPU and installed the latest drivers from AMD and every time I tried playing any games the computer would just crash. So here is my first question, How do you know which driver will work for the R1, do you just keep trying different ones? I tried at least 5 different drivers and the computer instantly shutoff right when I get into the game but the 14.4 driver from AMD lasted a minute in game then instant shutoff of the computer. Every time I used a different driver I would use Display Driver Uninstaller to make sure all other parts of the drivers were removed. I was going for a 6th try on a different driver but notice I couldn't enable the Hybrid graphics (5870M) in bios anymore. I thought I was at least getting somewhere until this happened. So how can I make where I can enable the hybrid graphics once again?

I flashed using http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-17-m17x/734549-should-i-buy-m17x-r2-5.html Rev 1. So could it be the vbios that is causing my computer to crash when going into a game? I also tried getting the vbios on Dell for the 5870m but when I unzip the file and try to install, I get an error saying something along these lines "For M17x only." So how do I flash the GPU with Dell vbios?

I was thinking maybe the PSU was the cause but it is a 240w well then its also 4yrs old so would that be the cause?

Sorry for the length of this post and if its confusing. Been up all night for the past 3 days trying to figure this out.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Have you monitored the temperatures?
