Hello all, an R1 owner here

Im corrently running Win7 on bios version A03 and things are running fine, but I cant change between integrated and dedicated graphics while windows is running. Has this been addressed in the latest bios version?

So far ive had to disable/enable the graphics in bios to get a break from the fan noise (which is a bit too loud even in idle) so I was hoping a fix was here so I dont have to reboot every time to quiet the fans.

    Cheers

Your fans are running probably because your temperatures are high.
You may need to change that old thermal paste in there and apply new one, have you or anybody else done this on your laptop since you have it?

ever cleaned the fans? could be a big issue. my desktop will die if i dont do a cleanup once @ at least 6 months.
could be also helpful to know temperature of the place you keep your monster at and fans RPM on iddle/full load.

I have cleaned the fans, but I have never replaced the thermal paste, I dont know how to to it to be honest.

The fans are not really that loud, but they have that normal PC-laptop noise level, still annoying when im just using programs that doesn't need any graphics hardware acceleration.

The temperature in idle is around 50C on the card by the way.

If you have 4870s you cannot switch in windows, a reboot is needed

If your room temp is not that high i'd say a good repaste will lower your temps under 40 deg. C along with selecting the "Ballanced" power plan(click the battery icon in system tray).
