    Heya all,

So, I am not sure what is causing the problems.

I get an error when I am on hybrid that the power supply is not authentic (it is the original one)

After being on for about 2 minutes the system shuts off. (this is without a battery even in it.)

The battery is not charging at all... left it plugged in overnight.

At this point I feel that my brick (power brick) might be bad. However, the blue light on the end still lights up...and stays lit. o_O

I would appreciate some guidance on how to troubleshoot so I don't spend a bunch of cash on a new battery and psu.

Thinking I should buy a new brick first...

Thank you very much. I hope to repair it and sell it. lol. I gotta get it working first.

If it says the power supply is not genuine, it could be the eeprom chip could have fried, thus it won't charge your battery. The only fix is to buy a known working part, unless you have access to another Flextronics 240W adapter.

Is that the original battery? If so i am surprised that it is still holding a charge in the first place. But you can get a new brick and battery for around $125. I had to replace the battery in my R1 last year due to it not holding a charge. The major issue with that system is it will constantly run/charge the battery even if plugged in and 100% charged, the newer system stop charging once the battery reaches full charge.

I still have my old M17x R1 around. I had this problem frequently some time back but it eventually totally went away - I vaguely remember it being after updating to latest BIOS at the time ??? Pretty sure if you google it will come up, this was definitely a real topic of discussion a few years ago on all the forums. FWIW my original battery is still working great , but I used to disconnect it frequently to prevent abuse/overcharging

It's dangerous to update the BIOS if the machine can shut down suddenly. I would try a different adapter if that's possible for you.

Yeh very good point you don't want to brick it during BIOS flash and I'm not convinced this fixed my problem or whether it just went away to strike unexpectedly another day..... I am also wondering if the battery not charging is a separate issue - on the R1 you can toggle battery charging on/off with fn+f2 key IIRC maybe the OP accidentally disabled charging ?? Thought it worth mentioning if nothing else !
