I called AW asking for an upgrade, and they are not sure what processors I can get for the M17x 0_o "nice training they have over there"

anyway, do any of you know what processors I can jam in to an AW M17x R1 in place of the T9600 I have in there?

"I would hate to get a new M17x just to get something like a processor upgrade..."

    UPDATE:

I got on ebay a Intel Q9200 (2.4Ghz Unlocked Quad Processor) and two 750GB 7,200rpm HDs. I think this saved my @$$, and I will be quite happy with this update for some time =^_^=

QX9300 is the best one you can put in your system. It's a beast of a CPU though. Quad core, capable of running 3.5GHz on all cores with the help of throttle stop.

My r1 have the intel p478 socket, so anything thwt compatible with that and the power supply of the alienware can provide enough power is ok. Go on intel website and search for your cpu, see the specs and look of something that is similar, i would go for a t9600, normal price and easy to find. Or a qx9300 very good and expensive

Here's an alternative at a good price.

    INTEL CORE QUAD Q9200 2.40GHZ 12M 1066Mhz MOBILE >q9100 - eBay (item 160491590884 end time Nov-08-10 19:27:12 PST)

Intel made some QX9200 Quad Core processors but I guess there wasn't enough market demand so they never officially released them. Because these were never available at the retail level, they are all ES processors but by unlocking the multiplier, they perform similar to a QX9300 for less than half the price. laptopmonkey has a good reputation with NBR buyers.

Here's an example of what a QX9200 can do without too much work.

Edit: I looked up the Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 and it seems to be a desktop processor... 0_o is there another name for the mobile one?
