Ok, guys i need your help one more time, i brought my pc Alienware M17x R1 in a computer repair shop for help my gf with her pc, because we have the same model. The technician made a disaster with both pc and he lost approximately all screws......but i rly dont want to talk about this. So i need to know if there is any pattern (for M17x or M17x R2 since is the same model) for the screws so i can be able to put the all screws in the right way. Is rly important. As always thanks for reply ;) and sorry for my english. I'm italian.

Couple of days earlier and I would tell you each screw, since I put it all apart. A friend of mine wants photos, so i might disassemble it again. I'm not promising. Good luck.

I can't give you any picture or something but after disasembling mine alot of time i remember almost every screw.

    So ,

    - 2 long screw for the main panel
    - 1 captive screw for the ram panel
    - 4 captive screw for both hard drive cage
    - 2 little and 1 middle screw under the battery for palm rest
    - 5 very little screw for keyboard
    - 2 phillips ( torx ) screw for each gpu pcb
    - a lot of same screw for motherboard
    - not sure but 4 medium screw with a lot of blue thing for both corner of screen

Speaker are hold by the mobo screw , same for dvd player. Wifi and bluetooth screw are a bit different as they screw in metal and not in plastic.

Magnesium panel's screw are a bit longer than mobo one. Count them and compare the length. You can see mark on mobo, when there is a mark you place a screw , where isn't that meen it's the magnesium panel's screw place. Be very carefull with palm rest screw , very soft metal and the longest one go for left or right hole, not in middle.

I duno if this is helpfull, i expect it can help.

    m2.5xl17x2 power board
    m2.5xl5 x2 palm rest
    m2.5xl8 x1 palm rest
    m2.5xl2 x5 keyboard
    m2.5xl2 x2 GPU
m2.5xl5 x9 magnesium palm rest "bracket"
    m2.5xl8 x6 display mount
    m2.5xl5 x3 usb board
    m2.5xl5 x5 motherboard
    m2.5xl2 x2 ODD
    m2.5xl2 x1 IR board

    m2.5xl2 x2 display big cover
don't know the size smaller thread than m2.5xl2, same size - display small cover

The rest are on the parts itself (GPU/CPU heat-sinks; HDD brackets etc.), so I hope you don't have issues with them.

BTW I am more and more amazed each day how massively overbuild and thoughtful this thing is. M18x-R1 can't hold a candle to it, while the 8740w I have is like a toy (which is pretty sturdy machine BTW). I'm REALLY impressed.
