Hey folks, I've been working on making a list of Dell part numbers for our m17x's. This list is a WIP, and there are many missing parts. Also, I could use some better descriptions for some of the parts where Dell didn't have a very good one and I can't seem to locate the item by part number anywhere on the web (other than lists of part numbers). For everyone else, I got these #s off dell's website. They store your original "as bought" config under your my account. A direct link that should work is: click here and replace the xxxxx in the URL with your actual service tag. I tried the link with a couple different service tags so it should work.

Excellent! I was hoping to get the 4870 part numbers at some point. I imagine the first one is the primary card and the second is your secondary GPU. Part of my thought on that is because the cable it speaks of is likely the SLI cable and IIRC those usually come with the secondary card. Will get to work adding those in.

you mean the aluminium lid? if so, yes, the M17x R1 and R2 share the same chassis

I think you are referring to the pre Dell model, all the M17x (Dell releases) don't have a battery cover.

That part is very rare to come upon lately :/

 

Yeah, it's pre-dell...I'm not looking forward to a duct tape jury rig just to keep the battery in place. This sucks :cry:

I'm looking for the name of the part or the part that holds the ram cards. I broke the little clips off mine and now they don't hold the cards on the back of my alienware M17xr2 laptop! I've looked all over the internet.

Do you know what this is called?

It's the part that's under the little piece of aluminum (it has one screw to remove the cover directly under the back cover.

Any help would be HUGELY appreciated!!

I'd like to ask if part number "W779M" (Hinge Cover Power Switch Board) is the same as "8MK45 - Center Control Power Button Cover / Hinge Cover"?

I'd need to replace the Power Button Cover for my M17xR2 and would appreciate any help in confirming this.

Need help finding either the part number or direct me to a site where I can find the mounting plate that goes under the motherboard that mounts the CPU heatsink.

I am building my own laptop and have list of all parts except that plate or Bracket.
