Since the last patch, they upgraded the way video cards are detected in the game and anyone with old drivers automatically has their video settings capped at 'fair'.
I'm still on the old and reliable 197.84 drivers for my 280m's, and for a long time have had no desire to move onto the 2XX series drivers having had nothing but bad luck with them.
Until now I've never had a problem with my drivers but it has been a while since they were released (around summer I think?)
Therefore, can anyone tell me if we have a new 'widely regarded as stable' set of drivers these days that are known to work with WoW?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Actually, what you want to do is update the chipset with the driver found here
http://forum.notebookreview.com/7161835-post32.html
THEN, you can update to the latest nvidia verde driver and you should be golden
You can read the whole thread here for more info (start on post 20 for the most relevant info)

Ah so that's what was going on. Thanks for the info

NP, some people are still reporting random problems/bsod's but if you go into bios and change PCI-E gen 2 to disable then people are doing good.
(All this is in that thread starting on post 1)

Stepping in regarding WoW, as I need some input from R1 owners who play wow. I've posted this in another thread which got buried somewhere:
The computer runs fairly smooth with settings to Good (temps around 66C), but if I raise the Liquid detail to anything above Low, my 2nd card temp goes up to 100C (the other one stays around 70-75)!
Note: tested standing idle on top of some large body of water (ocean or the lake in SW).
Is this happening to anyone else ? Can anyone advise ? It would be interesting to know the temps for other R1 owners while playing WoW.
Specs are in signature, using latest Verde drivers with PCI Gen2 disabled in BIOS, integrated and hybrid off.
