My screen was recently cracked and now I need to find a new screen; does anybody have a screen or know of a low priced screen for sale? I would really appreciate it!

Which one are you looking for?
There are a few on e.bay, most of them 1440x900 though.

To be honest, I am not sure what exact screen I need; Is there a way to find out what I have now?

Any screen for the M17x or M17x R2 will fit and function (not lower case 'm').
    Here are a few:
    http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_from=R...l1313&_nkw=M17x+lcd&_sacat=See-All-Categories

The 1920x1200 are the best, they're either Dual CCFL WUXGA(decent screen) or better RGB LED(the best for these systems also the most expensive)

There's also the 1440x900 Dual CCFL (the cheapest, most of them were poorly manufactured and known to have bleeding problems)

I found one on ebay for $198 USD and they assure me it will fit my computer. Also, why does my computer refuse to detect my TV or Acer model 7377xE monitor?

    What model did you get?
Also what do you mean by "it refuses to detect your TV"? If you plug it using HDMI, VGA or DP port it should post without any other action from you after booting your system.

I contacted these people (Not the actual screen, just the same seller) NEW ALIENWARE AREA-51 M17X 17.0" MATTE LCD SCREEN | eBay

They assured me they have one that fits my computer for $198 USD. I will restart my computer with the HDMI still connected, but it has not shown any other displays. Is there a reason why the computer does not show a graphics card, despite the screen being cracked?

It reverted to the 9400M video card, but I am still unable to connect to the TV with my HDMI cable or to the Acer monitor through VGA.. Both read no signal..

I had the same issue as well until I replaced the screen. I was lucky to find a screen for $360 @ 1920x1200
