I first posted in the technical question thread but i fear my question will not get enough visibility, so i'm creating this thread instead. The original post follows:

    Hello all,

I just tried flashing my 280m's with a new bios made with nibitor, but when i enter the command lines (nvflash -i0 (or i1) -4 -5 -6 biosname.rom) i get the following error with both cards:

WARNING: Firmware Image PCI Subsystem ID (1028.021A) does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (1028.02A1).

From my research, it seems this could be the result of nibitor not reading correctly the 280m bios.

So what can I do about this? I know some people forced the flash, but I don't want to risk too much and it seems not recommended. But the device ID seems almost the same so maybe it is not a big deal...

Or I could just drop this altogether

    Any Help appreciated ^^

You should be editing a BIOS you pulled from your machine. Did you use nvflash from a USB stick booted to DOS to pull the BIOS? That's how I've always pulled mine to edit. Also, make sure you're using the most current version of Nibitor.

I tried 2 methods to extract the original bios and create the new ones, both gave the same result:

    - gpuz on both 280m
    - nvflash to backup both 280m bioses.

The error would be the result of using nibitor since it reads the bios as having ID 021A while nvflash apparently reads ID 02A1 as being the ID of the 280m's.

So the bios I'm trying to flash is from my own machine. I did use nvflash from a bootable usb flash drive to do the backup and the flashing.

I searched a little bit further and found someone with exactly the same issue as mine, unfortunately it doesn't help at all: Re:GeForce GTX 280M, getting incorrect subsystem ID warnings? - MVKTech Support Forums :: mvk.tech :: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 470 465 460 ATI Radeon HD 5970 5870 5850 5830 :: MVKTech :: On the Edge of Technology

I can edit the subsystem ID in nibitor but then the integrity of the BIOS becomes yellow. I don't even know which is the correct ID, 021A (nbitor) or 02A1 (nvflash), but nvflash detects all 3 cards (9400m included) as ID 02A1.

Oh and i'm using nibitor 5.7, but i don't know about nvflash.

edit: i had an outdated version of nvflash but even with the latest it doesn't change anything.

Change it to 02A1. I had this problem as well. All that field does is indicator the card manufacturer. My 4870s had the same 02A1 denotation. It is safe and after doing that should allow you to flash.

I changed it to 02A1 in nibitor and it did work as intended, thank you Scook!
