    Hi guys..

not long ago i've reinstalled windows. Today looking on my device manager i noticed an "unknown device" and realized that i've forgot to install the ST Microelectronic Accelerometer Software/Driver.

I did install it and, upon reboot i got this message error: "Error 0000".

I redownloaded the driver from Dell website thinking that maybe the copy i had was corrupted someway, but still getting the same error.

It goes away as soon as i uninstall the driver.

Any idea how to fix this?

    Thank you all :)

Just don't install it anymore. That's the driver for the Free Fall Sensor.
It's been causing trouble to a lot of people not only Alienware users.

What it should do is turn off your laptop (before it reaches the ground) in a free fall.

I never install it and i just make sure i never drop my laptop.

I think it returns the read/write head of your hard drive(s) to the safe position once it senses that your laptop has gone into a free fall. That's really the only moving part of an entire laptop.

My Uncle's Toshiba laptop returns the read/write head to the safe position if you even move the laptop. I've never installed the software, so that's about all I can tell you. If your laptop is never really in a position that it could be dropped while it is running, then you don't need that software.

Thanks guys, uninstalled and disabled the device. I'll call it good :)

I hardly move my laptop if it is powered on so no risk of falling unless my desk doesn't suffer a critical failure and implodes...mmm pretty unlikely (well that would be some show isn't so? :D )

If you have an SSD as the main OS drive, I would avoid installing the Free Fall sensor on any laptop. On my Z61t, I was wondering why my G1 was stuttering as I used the Lenovo recovery media, turns out the accelerator was doing it.
