I just received a my Alienware M17x R2 with 5870 crossfire from the dell outlet and I am trying to play Black Ops. Running the game in without crossfire works but is pretty slow. Running with crossfire definitely increases the FPS but I am having the following issues:

    * Screen will roll up from the bottom. Kinda like an old CRT that malfunctions. Tends to happen when there is something bright on the screen.
    * Sometimes I see a black line that runs down the left side of the screen.
    * Weird tearing issues in random spots.

I tried the stock driver on the dell site. I also tried the latest ATI driver with the cap set too. Does this happen to every body or is there something wrong with my laptop?

I run 1440x900 with nearly everything off. No shadows, vsync, AA, AF, or steam overlay.

You need to call Alienware ASAP!! You probably have a bad 5870M, Xrossfire cable or a combination of both. Demand new parts!!! In the past I had a issue similar to yours and they sent me a refurbished replacement secondary 5870M. It was defective upon arrival.

I guess you found out why your unit was in the Dell outlet :(

Black Ops runs maxed out perfectly with my config. Yours should be no different.....especially at 1440 x 900!!!

There has got to be another problem. Make sure you're set to 'High Performance' in Windows' power options. In Catalyst Control Center, make sure all sliders accept Catalyst AI and Mip Maps are set to the FAR left.

The other problems you're talking about sound like VSync issues. Try enabling vertical sync and see if the screen roll goes away.

This has nothing to do with the fact that you got this off of the Outlet. If you have been on NBR for very long, you'll see that the problems are everywhere, not just with Outlet units.

    I can't guarantee that something isn't defective.
