Happy for you Sangemaru
Ill be there in a few weeks. Actually ordered 2 cables, and had even two more wrongly ordered so in fact i had 4 on the way, 3 from same seller.
One normal cable and one cable from upgradeyourlaptop without the flat tape.
Ill see what fits the best or rather , ill install the first to arriveAlienHack likes this. -
It's not a bad idea to have a spare. Be advised that even the original crossfire cable won't align perfectly with the design of the 7970m cards. The slave card one will have to be very carefully bent down at the edge so you can fit it between the heatsink and the card without ripping apart the connector. The one at the master card is a little too far to the right, and you'll have to squish it a bit. Once again, look out for the connector.
Also, one bit of advice for all of you:
Have RadeonPro installed, and create a profile inside it for each game, for which profile you enable "Always use the highest performance clocks while gaming" in the OverDrive tab for each card, and apply. I have a hunch that this bypasses the PowerTune technology and will give you quite higher clocks in quite a few applications. Try it out. -
And look who is here ! ( CF 7970m )

U installed? Benched?
Must admit.
If i cant make x-fire work due to socket error on one of the boards, i will buy another 7970M.
Fingers crossed, or this could get expencive.
-
i will do the upgrade maybe today later on in the evening, i hope the cards will work plug & play
i will also read trough the thread to see your all previous posts so i know what exactly is going on.
No worries broTrome71 likes this. -
Good google translate or romanian blood?
Congrats on your cards, let's see succes -
great people in every way, could not imagine to work with somebody else
Cards arrived and i am preparing..i have everything just not so much time....
EDIT:
So, your cards are clevos or dells ?
and are you using vbios that slv7 modded or what bro ?

Congrats flingin!
You're gonna love the powah!!! You have CLEVO cards right? Don't use any Dell vBIOS's on it to be safe. The P270WM "RJTECH" vBIOS is the confirmed safe vBIOS to use with CLEVO cards. -
-
The normal VBIOS packackes are 017. Where can i find the overdrive 0,975 with 022?
Gonna give it a go to.
And you use overdrive for the OC?
Im meaning standard VBIOS clocks and using overdrive for clocktweaking. -
Hi Guys.
I searched for 7970m Benchmark scores in the benchmark thread but the only ones i found are gathered here in the first post of this thread and they appear to be invalid scores mostly.
it would be cool to make a list with 7970m scores in 3dmark 2011 and 3dmark-firestrike
for r2.r3,r4, stock and oced. those lists could be updated offcourse
We have such lists in the first post of the benchmark thread but those ar for older cards.we need lists for 7970/8970 and 680/780m now i think about it
But first of all i want to know the scores for 7970m cross and single-card,stock and oced with new drivers.
can someone please tell me what score he knows.I will buy a 7970m too for my r2 but cant decide whether to goo cross or not,im dying to know the scores right now^^ -
thx, might check this out later.
Hopefully i can use standard voltages.
Walking round in desperaton waiting for my x-fire cable. -
go flingin go!!!
-
The clock to about 10 K with OC on CPU at least on 3Dmark 2011. Also perhaps slight OC on GPU to. -
Then i dont really understand those scores or futuremark shows wrong clocks.
Whats the difference in points between 850mhz and 1100 mhz in 3dmark 2011 for 7970m crossfire?
I talk about graphics-score offcourse.
850 mhz -11k
1100 mhz -about 13k? -
i think their limit in an R2 is 10.500 points.
the single card can go 7500-7800 combined score 3dmark 2011 (8000 max graphics score)Nospheratu likes this. -
thx.
Do you have the scores for firestrike too ? -
no, never tried it. but if you want i will boot up my m17R2 and try firestrike.
check this list!!
http://community.futuremark.com/forum/showthread.php?164427-GTX680-amp-HD7970-3DMark11-Score-List
the most heavily oced desktop pcs with cpus running at 5Ghz!!! and gtx 680s running at 1300gpu 1750 mems!!! just hit 11500 in 3dmark 2013!!!
AND WE AR TALKING about the fastest overclocked pcs you can get, maybe water cooled or waterchilled to get there.
so beleive me , these 10.500 scores we can get with our machines are f**cking awasome!!!! -
I have everything i need just i think i will wait for those extra 4mm pads i have ordered to put on top elements behind the voltage regulators.
I really want to put them in ASAP but if i would do that now then i would have to repaste again 2 cards in order to insert those 4mm pads. (ICD 24 Wasting)
Also, i have 1x8970M that arrived with 2x7970M's from Eurocom. But that is going into my friends machine on Tuesday, i don't know if i should test in R2 for compatibility.
One good thing is that it has single sided 4GB memory.Nospheratu and sangemaru like this. -
that would be really cool if you can test and share the firestrike scores both stock and oc´ed.
theres no room for overvolt right? -
-
he mentioned 950 mhz, zhis is the limit? -
I wrote 950 because thats the top stable my cards go. They boot at 990 but crash soon. I dont think that manu people can reach 1000gpu... even overvolted...
but I tell you, 10500 in 3dmark 2013 is a huge score... -
Ok you are kidding us right??
PUT THAT 8970M IN THE M17X R2 RIGHT NOW!!
ofcourse you should plug it in and check combatibility!!! We are all dying to see if it works!!
and also run some 3d marks 2013 and firestrike !!Nospheratu likes this. -
Double post... sorry

Here is my Firestrike result post when I first installed the cards.

that was one fast delivery.
Then again the shipment fee alone was 66$
X-fire working.
Got to try to tweak more. My CPU still looks avfully weak, even when OC'ed.Nospheratu likes this. -
Uuuu, more people getting into the fun of the cross
Cool.
Completely off-topic, but I'm too lazy to open a different thread for this question:
Anyone have a clue as to why my CPU cooling would work perfectly well after a fresh repaste (talking 90C max temps under TSBench when running the CPU +75mV @ 140MHz Baseclock / 25x multis at 90W/62A TPL settings), with the performance heavily degrading 2-3 hours later?
I'm back at having 100C temps at 55W/55A settings just playing. This is driving me insane. -
I am not allowed to download from techinferno -
Have you tried the leaving the keyboard out and running the machine like that for an extended period of time? When heatsink performance degrades again try to adjust the screws again to see if it makes a difference.

Running benchmark with the computer left directly on the table, it runs quit cool when i run 860/1260. GPU's turning it up to 56 degC during 3Dmark 11.
CPU 27on all cores, 2% over on BIOS clock too.
AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-940 Processor,Alienware
Not exactly flash gordon.
During benchmark I can see the picture jumping periodically. As if it stutters.
Also during last test the flags go crazy. (guess its flickering but only the flags, rest is smoth)
Is this what rest of you see or do i have a problem?
My CPU is probably not 100% perfect. I see the same Physics scores as before i got the Xfire as you can see from the link. -
Should the PSU say NO NO ? -
it handles 950gpu 1150 mem and 25x multi
-
Ive already upgraded my PSU.
I could see same before i had crossfire meaning -100W both with this PSU and the 240W one. Same physics score.
It couldnt have been PSU then too, if so, im way above 340W now.
There is something fishy going on.
My computer cant read the RAM in bank 1 either.
Have had to swap my RAM from 2*4 to 1*8
Perhaps setting in BIOS? Hmmmm donno. Could try techinferno to..... -
Is anybody able to give m a definite answer wheather YES or NO about DOES IT ACCUALLY WORK 100% Or no ?
Just follow Iamsolidstate guide and i'm golden ? -
Ive seen this problem before upgrading PSU and to X-fire.
Before upgrading i used stock GPU Voltage and frequences.
My CPU should not go as high as it goes, i dont know why.
But then again, the resultspeed (test) is not that great even though i see very high frequencies in HWinfo. -
10k in firestrike....im getting weak.....
did everyone here get (around or) over 10k in firestrike in their 7970m cross m17 r2´s? -

Guess who did the most stupid of things.
Forceflashing 1050 OV VBIOS with atiwinflash regardless of warnings in readme file.
GPU1 made everything go black.
Have to either try monitor or blindflash or even do the bigger job of swapping GPU's and have the now crappy GPU in slot2.
Ive done temp mods again so its a lot bigger work ahead for this.
Hopefully i can get out of itand not buy a new one. (hard to get by the 021's or earlier)
Have to wait a week before i try to fix. Going away on holiday for a weeks time. -
Sorry to hear @Trome71
Did the flash complete or did it stop before 100%? If it did complete there still might be hope for a blindflash or flashing it while in slot 2. If that fails the only other option would be to replace the vBIOS chip. There is a seller on ebay who sells 7970M chips pre-flashed that you can replace your chip with. That said, you have to be handy with the steel(solder) if you know what I mean
Have fun on your holiday
