Meh, I didn't really have a choice if i wanted to get such a machine... i got it through a trade for a clevo p150em. Then slowly added the cards, HDD's, ram.
Otherwise I'd never have had the money if I had to buy it upfront.

Hey Guys, So I have a new 7970m, no crossfire yet. Bought it used and when I plugged it in it started right up. Could you look at this and see if it looks right for my M17x R2? Dont really know if it should be flashed or with what. Its idleing in the mid 30s but hits into the 90s well running 3dmark11 or games.

    thanks

edit: Hmmm wierd. Page 162 is a ghost :p

nitsun69, check my response on T|I. Your card is massively overclocked probably overvolted as well.

    162 ghost, yea :D
Nitsun, please make a dump of your vbios before tinkering with it, it's very new and deserves some attenshun :) Know how to do vbios dumps using atiman?
Also, really nice clocks. If it's stable, you should start trying to lower voltages and finding a sweetspot for heat/performance.

Well this new driver suddenly pumped my GPU to 13700 using 885 and 1285 clocks.
    Currently undervolting the card.

New tests were ranging from 13500 -13700

Sad you didnt save it :(
Perhaps the newer VBIOS could help our stuttering GPU's.

    On th enew driver:
My new GPU score was high but the lagging was still there.
Have to reduce speed to prevent it. (825 / 1175 seems to work better)

If i increased the voltage to 1050, and increased clocks i could probably go past 14K but would still have the lagging problem.

Wonder how high alienhack can go now?

They are mostly 017, not 024.
Newest ive seen has been 022 and dont think its part of the SVL7 vbios package.
Gots to have a look. .

Ask the guy who reborn2003 sold the card to. Its possible that reborn2003 sold him the card with svl7's mod vBIOS (Dell 015.017) and that buyer flashed that newer CLEVO version to try and get it to work.

edit: It seems that version was meant for the P370EM and was enduro enabled! Look at the GPU-Z pic. How in the world was it working in an R2???

i will try tommorow , although am tired of installing a new ATI beta driver every 2 days and having to disable ULPS... Just remember that i run on a vanilla unmoded PSU... although it doesnt power crash . my Cpu crashes first at (25x all cores) if i dont raise the votage

PS. sorry for not posting often but the past week i upgraded my desktop pc with a new (used) mobo inorder to Overclock my i5 to 4.2 stable , and excanged my 680gtx for 2x 7970s Crossfire... also i bought a new mercedes as my peugeot got on fire... so past week has been too busy...

by the way you dont want to now the gpu score of the 2 x 7970s... its huge... the cards even got bottlenecked in crysis 3 by the i5 @4Ghz.. they were working at just 60-90% while the cpu was at 100% all cores...

BUT our oced 920xm stands close to the overclocked i5 (@ 4-4.2) in physics score. so our cpu is ok for gaming and benching for the moment...

have you tried my test bios to solve your stuttering GPU's. ? it works for all the people that tried it.. i have both my cards flashed with it and i have a super stable crossfire...

I think nitsun69 has DELL. GPUZ says dell is the subvendor.
    Your link says Clevo Kapok.

The subvendor field on GPU-Z refers to the motherboard the card is in and not the actual card itself... weird I know :p

See reborn's sale thread here. His are the exact same cards I'm running atm and he mentions his got the Dell vBIOS on... so the second guy had to have flashed that newer CLEVO version.

Sorry to hear about the fire.. maybe you shouldn't have overclocked the 920XM in the car. I'm surprised my table hasn't caught on fire yet :p Congrats on the new car and GPU's! :D

We can handle your desktop scores, post it up for comparison. Technically we have two desktop 7870's in CrossFire so we won't be too jealous :p

I remember seeing a video some time ago where a guy was playing Crysis 3 and his fps was a bit low for 3-way SLi with GTX 680's. He then alt-tabbed out, ran some CPU app that made the CPU run at 100% load, alt-tabbed back in and fps went up quite a bit. He said the game wasn't using the CPU efficiently or something. I'll try to find the link.

edit: Here's the video. I remember trying it on the 920XM and the timers were correct, give it a shot on your i5.

Nospheratu, what VBIOS do you use?

The 013 version from Alienhack is slow as h.... for me.
No stuttering or lagging, but at 11900 I could have done the same using 800 / 1150 clocks in the 022 without beeing able to see the issue.

Yeah, we thought it was a vBIOS created for the unreleased 7950M as the clocks match up.

I'm running the forced 0.975v CLEVO vBIOS from the mod pack in my sig.

    Fantastic.
Your VBIOS did the trick for me to in 3dmark11 stopping the lagging.
Currently running 975 as you 875 / 1250 and 13600 GPU score. Is that far from your score with apx same speed?
Havent tried overvolting and much higher clocks.
Did try a bit higher but second test same clocks was locking up next test. First test above 14 000.

    13200 - 13400 stock clocks.

    Well well.
Soon ready for 11 K total.

    Above 15K for GPU.
    My CPU slows me down.

AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-940 Processor,Alienware

Clocks for this test 975 / 1375 stock voltage and Clevo VBIOS. Temp ending up in 60 flat on both GPU's
CPU had to have very high OC for these numbers. 27X, 75mV BIOS and 5% BIOS.
    Need to get another CPU.

1000 / 1400 was shut down directely first test, need more than stock voltage probably or my PSU had enough with 110W CPU.

When you say stock voltage, are you talking about the stock 1050V CLEVO vBIOS? If so, that's pretty awesome temps man :)

Try another run but disable the 5% OC and +85mV. Set multi's to 25x across all cores with a 90/82 TDP/TDC in ThrottleStop. Sometimes my XM gives me better physics scores when I don't push it too hard.

If i dont push it i go below 6k. Ive tried many times. 25x stock bios and low tdp tdc gives me 5742. During t-tstop bench tests the clocks are dead stable. At high rates. Its not like the other kids.
Perhaps ice storm etc can give me better comparison but donno what others get.
Odd that my gpu mem shows 3 gig.

i wrote my findings on the battlefield 4 thread in the gaming section.

TL;DR i tried changing the graphics preset from low to ultra with small fps difference. octiceps told me that if that were the case then its pretty much the cpu bottlenecking my gpu. i tried running my cpu @3.5ghz and my gpu usage went up to 80%. still 40-50fps on ultra.

    That was me :)

I'll check that for you later when I finish my work...

For the bits that I remember. CPU 25@4 cores 85/80 TDP/TDC

    Both GPUs at 0.975V 890/1250

Also. You want to install DirectX library's from the games directory.

The fact that ive now got good VBIOS i shall test same speed as you Flingin.

If its lagging on me, its either the lower CPU speed or memory handling.

But if you Pinoy have 4 gigs of ram total, i think that a trip down memory lane and an upgrade of 4 gigs is quite obvious.

    You use win7 flingin?

But its probably not CPU bottlenecking you.
Now i mostly get 55-60 fps, and my CPU is slower than yours. Mine is not as it should be.

Try doing the switch to Clevo VBIOS?

I have had to swap to Clevo to make xfire work perfect, going from the dell one. Might be other issues that you cant see or memory spikes that you dont see.
SSD should help a bit too.
