Ok this thread does not make any sense....
It has all sorts of backpack and messenger bags for all type's of M17x revisions.

For instance, the R3 is thinner then the R2 (which i believe is the biggest), so what fits the R3 does not always fit for the R2.

All i want to know from this thread is:
    What backpack fits my R2.
Is someone here interested in doing research just for the R2.

    Dimensions of the R2:

Height 51.31 mm to 53.59 mm (2.02 inches to 2.11inches) - Front to Back
    Width 405.89 mm (15.98 inches)
    Depth 321.31 mm (12.65 inches)
    Weight: 5.3 kg (11.68 lb's)

i just want to know from all the hundreds of backpacks, which ones can i pick for a fair price that can hold my R2....Dell will say the Orion and i will say yes but my budget says no, so thats why i want to have a choice between other models.

Gotcha! Well I have the Orion messenger bag and it's pretty cool. Hopefully another user can give us an input on this.

I have the Orion backpack and I have to say it might look tough but if you're carrying the M17x R2 in it don't use the handle. Always carry it on your back with the shoulder straps.

I've only used it around 7 times so far and on my last trip my shoulder was hurt so I used the handle to carry it around and now the stitches around the handle are giving up :(

in terms of actually fitting a r2/r3 inside the laptop area the difference is pretty marginal.

i use a swiss gear bag, have had it a few years and i think i had it for my m1730 also, its sturdy with steel handle grips.

    cant go wrong with it.

Allright, now we get thing going (y)

Wow, and you bought it new?
No way then that sutch an expansive bag is appealing to me.
It's has to be a 1 time investment for me.

I did read that thing about bad stichings of the Orion bag more often...
I think it was a certain frabication month that had those problems... You might want to contact Luis for this.

Thanks for the input! The Orion series are well suited bags though but the price is way too high for me coupled with the stichings risk.

You have the R2 i asume?
The R3 and R2 have small difference in max. hights, but it's still there and iv'e seen what it can do to a pouch that was only ment for the dimensions of a R3 (it ended up ripping the pouch after a few times forching it into the pouch/bag.
I can't remember what brand/model it was, i didn't cared much for it back then (pre R2 era :)).

Swissgear/Wenger has ALLOT of models :).
    What model do you own?

i got a new R4 model just recently, however most of the alienware models should fit into the swiss gear bags.

i am quite sure my bag is rated for 17" laptops but i can fit in my R4 fine.

its an extremely well built bag.

That is a very nice priced carry on, ashame i am looking for a backpack...
    Thanks for the input Destro.

    Cobraaaa!!

    Ah, the wenger Pegasus.
This is indeed a bag i found that should hold a m17x Rx... It's dimensions however are too small (according to their website) for the R2 :(.

I did buy it new from ebay since at that point in time Alienware did not arrive in South Africa. I guess I cant really complain as the seller refunded me for the bag as I specifically requested the 2 compartment version as opposed to the 3 compartment. They sent the 3 compartment... and refunded me since is wasn't what I requested... and let me keep the bag! :D So basically it was free apart from the shipping cost.

Very admirable of them though I think bearing the cost of shipping the incorrect bag back to them was not worth the head ache :p

different from what model? i asume you mean the difference between the R2 and the R3?
    ....

    Dimensions of the R2:

    Height 53.59 mm ( 2.11 inches)
    Width 405.89 mm (15.98 inches)
    Depth 321.31 mm (12.65 inches)

    Dimensions of the R3
    Height 45.0 mm (1.77 inches)
    Width 410.0 mm (16.14 inches)
    Depth 304.0 mm (11.97 inches)

So once again,..as you can see, what could just fit the R3 does not fit the R2...the R2 is too high and deep for the "standard 17inch" notebook pouch...

what are the dimensions of your R4.

If you looked at the first link I showed the pegasus will hold your R2 along with the oakley surf pack if you remove a few stitches from the top of the laptop sleeve.

Cool man, thanks for adding these pictures and also adding your signature (altough i don't know why you added your tv in the mix )
Can you take off the pouch and let it sit completle IN and take a picture while it is almost closed.
I want to see if i could get problems with the zipper since the R2 is a bit bigger

tbh, i think it would be a bit of a squeeze.

the clasp on this, (velcro fastening) to hold the laptop at the top is a tight fit for this, if the R2 is bigger i think it may not fit.

check out amazon for more swiss gear bags, they may have bigger.

how is this spam, i am trying to help you dude.

from looking at the R2, I think the laptop will fit into the pegasus, i am not sure if it will reach the full depth

you are in the netherlands, why dont you just go and get a swiss gear bag from amazon, see does it fit, if not give it back for a refund.

    no problem.

I have seen the Slappa and orion and most of the Wenger bags (and more) but i don't know if it will fit unless i buy it.
I started the thread because the original had too much speculation in it and no one tool in account that the R2 is bigger then the rest so i started this thread with hopes that owners of an R2 with respond with their bags that are proven to fit.

Now this thread is starting with speculation that bags may or may not fit :/.
It's not personal btw, i just sucks that i am kinda forced to buy a €100,00 bag when i know that there should be cheaper bag that i can use.

    Ps.
Amazon will not deliver in Europe. I've tried :)

having ordered about £2000 of stuff from amazon in the last year i think they do ship, well in the uk anyway, they are also fantastic for returns, so much so that i think there is no need to even go into a high street shop anymore and 1) get ripped off and 2) putting up with traffic and parking.

but i cant believe amazon dont ship to the nl... is this the correct country i am thinking about lol

Well, i tried thru Belgium and Holland. The account says" Amazone is not able to send The Netherlands".

I tried ordering 4 times in the last year :(

And yes, it's us across the big lake.
Amsterdam is not a country hahaha

really, cant believe amazon dont ship to the holland.

    .

send it to a friend in germany or something and get it directed to you?

swiss gear bags are top drawer but i cant be for certain your laptop will fit. hence doing a refund.

Like i said, this is way of topic, a.k.a. spam.
I think you confuse me with some 20 year old, i think i can determine if the website will allow me to order or not.

I don't need to order via Amazone, we have local retailers so if i wanted to try it i would have done so long ago.
I already seen this bag and it will not fit, please stop going on about Amazone and the Pegasus bag.
    I don't want it, it doesn't fit, it's a fugly bag :)

When you find a bag that will guarantee to be fitting my R2, hit me a PM.
Meanwhile i am gonna concentrate on finding a cheap Orion M18x (m17x is ugly with that lame camo) or a Slappa M.A.S.K.
These are 100% certain to fit my baby.

Well, it's a small step in protection of my R2...let me show you my new:"Dura 18 inch Black zip neoprene laptop case"
    In short....M18x sleeve :D

As you can see, it will house a M18x just fine (plenty of room) so it will keep my M17x R2 snug as a bug in a...sleeve :)

Still looking for a propper bag.

    Well i finally succeeded!
Say hello to the Swissgear (Wenger) IBEX:

As you can see, it JUST fits, the rubber risers on the bottom are the main problem, it's a tight fit as is and the rubber grips the pouch so it's a hassle to get the laptop in the pouch....i think after about 40 or 50 times the rubber on the bottom will tear off....care :)

The next issue is that the bag just closes up around the laptop and as you can see....the zipper and the paint from the laptop have kissed :) so as i said...TIGHT fit....

Ashame that the Zalman ZM-NC3000u does not fit in the bag.....damnit..
