Hello all, i'm new to this forum!
I registered because i decided to fix some issues on my R2: it was quite ruined, i mean, i had the grey-screen issue i solved by just removing (not replacing) the CMOS battery, the changer needed to be changed and I think i'll also replace the main battery.
My main concern now is about a strange noise the PC does. I don't know how to describe that but it seems like it's coming from the central fan (I only have the CPU fan and the left VGA fan).
I found the model number of the VGA fans, but nothing about CPU fan, so i don't know what to look for.
    Anyone can help?

I'd imagine so, especially if it's the same part number. Sometimes Dell use the same parts/parts numbers for different machines. Looks the same to me!

    I will :D
About battery, i don't care a lot about the battery life, but the strange thing is that, sometimes, it says "Connected, not charging", and that worries me :D
However, as I said before, I just got a new charger, could the old one be the issue? It was sometimes not detected at all (really strange, the PC was turned on, the battery wasn't discharging but it said it was not connected to the power network), and on boot, sometimes, i got the message saying that it was not an original Dell power adapter.
Other than that, i'd really like to upgrade my screen (I have the 1440x900 panel) but it seems to be really expensive to buy something in Europe (I always had problems getting things delivered from USA, so I won't risk anymore).

As for the "plugged in, not charging" issue, I had that on my M17x R2 (when I owned it) and so did many other users. Some users reported that a new charger resolved this. I recall that the issue seemed to be more prevalent when using a Flextronics PSU. The Delta PSU's seemed better. However, I'm not 100% sure if the problem was ever fully resolved, but you can have a read of this thread to find out more:

As for the screen upgrade, your best bet is probably the likes of Ebay, too - the 1920x1200 rgbled screens were very popular so probably still command a high price as they become more scarce to locate. You could also try looking through the "For Sale" threads here on NBR:

EDIT: There is this Ebay listing that might be of interest, even though it's in the US:

That's nice because the new charger is the Delta one, while the old one was Flextronics.

Thanks for your suggestions, however it seems to be quite expensive. For a similiar price I can, however, find something in Germany. I'll see what to do, i'm still a student so money is always a problem :D
However thanks a lot, i'll take the fan for now and, then, i'll see what to do :D

As you asked, today I got the new fan and it seems that the noise problem is gone. Great! :D
I've also just received a 1900x1200 screen bought here on NBR, thanks for your suggestions :D
