Alienware boot media creator Will NOT copy the vbios files onto a CD, it goes to 5%, then jumps to 38% and says the copy to CD has failed.
Im using the tool that will download the Vbios onto either a Flashdrive, or CD-R. I click CD-R, it starts, goes to 10%, and fails.
I then can no longer use that CD, because it has "Data" on it.
Is there some way around this? The flash drive i have is to big to use that, and partitioning it did not work.

Hello Caballero, welcome to NBR.
You can use a USB key to flash your BIOS. Just download the zip archive from Dell.
Read this tutorial on how to create a bootable USB key, copy the archive content in the USB root:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...sh-aw-bios-updates-under-dos.html#post7076619
Reboot your system, tap the F12 key and choose to boot from your USB key. Run F.bat and follow the instructions. Make sure your laptop is plugged in and do not interrupt the process. -
I tried that with my 4 gig usb, it said it was to big. A friend walked me through how to partition it, to see if it could "Fool" it into thinking it was 512, but that also didn't work.

See step 7 in that post:
Also, disregard my previous post, i thought you meant the system BIOS.
If you want to update the vBIOS of your AMD mobility 5870 cards, all you have to do is run the R281544.exe file from Windows and follow the instructions.
Please confirm this is what you want to do. -
That is what im doing, Running R281544, which is the Alienware Boot Media Creator. Thats where i go and click on Create bootable CD, select the CD drive, with a blank CD, and start it. It gets to 5%, then jumps to 38% and gives me an error saying "Failed to copy to CD"
Thats why im here haha. (is this a double post? Im new to these fourms, not used to the post delay)
can i manually burn the files to the CD somehow, without alienware boot media creator? -

You also have the option of creating a .ISO file to burn it yourself with another piece of software such as UltraISO or with the Windows Disc Image Burner (preinstalled with Windows).
Another option you have is:
- to extract the contents of the R281544 with 7zip
- right click -> 7zip -> extract to R281544
- extract the contents of Setup.exe with 7zip (from the newly R281544 created folder)
- you'll obtain a folder named Setup (if you haven't changed the name) and inside it another folder named IMAGE.
What's inside the IMAGE folder is what you should've had on the CD. You can copy the contents of the IMAGE folder on a bootable USB key, boot from it and flash your cards in DOS running the autoexec.bat .

Would i just burn the ISO onto my CD with windows disk image burner, and then restart, hit F12? or is it more complicated than that

You can check if the cards were correctly flashed using GPU-Z. Your vBIOS version should read 012.020.000.027.037640 for both cards. -
hmm, so i am trying to update the drivers from AMD now, and all i can find is the Beta driver, and something called AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool(which downloads/installs, but dosent seem to do anything).
Im also wanting to get catalyst controll center on here, i don't even see a download for that haha. Was so easy on my pc >.<
M17x R2 I can't update my Vbios. Burn to disc won't work.
