    Hi,

Well basicly as the subjects says, i have the M17x R2 Mobility Radeon 4870 x2 and for the first time i hooked up my laptop to the tv to watch a movie via HDMI.

I could select the tv but there was no audio to configure.
I can select the tv but when i want to configure the sound or look up the supported sound channels its just blank.

I downloaded the Realtek ATI HMDI audio driver but that didn't change anything.
The setup is using the last supported driver (12.4) for the Mobility Radeon 4870 and it took me a while to get the Crossfire to work properly so i wont't be greedy to downgrade ATI drivers (nor would i be able to find any previous releases for the mobility drivers because they get linked to a tool that just downloads the most recent driver that does NOT support the 4870's.

    Hope you guys can help.

    ow ps.
When i hook up my computer to the tv using HDMI the sound works like it should from the tv.

Did you select the right audio output on the laptop? Or does it just not appear in your audio list? If it does not, is it in your device manager?

Are you sure the HDMI audio isn't just being hidden because it is disabled/disconnected? Go to the sound and right click and make sure disconnected/disabled devices are checked. I had this issue with numerous HP laptops.

I knew that these questions would rise :)
Thats why i also said that the hdmi via desktop works fine (on the desktop you also have to select the other audio device via playbackdevices.

It just isn't selectable (greyed out)

    FOUND IT!
Turns out that you have to turn up the volume slide just a little on the sound console that is only reachable bia the control panel..?
anyway, the hdmi audio output source is now selectable and i can new stream movies from the R2 instead of the desktop.

Now for my next project...try to see if i can swap out my lame CCFL screen for an RGB one.
I saw a lot of dedicated topics and one that kinda looks like it worked for someone with getting a different cable (HP(964??) and a rgb panel...?

Thanks, but this was the whole issue.
The whole information was there but the HMDI (TV) was greyed out.
When i went to the specific sound card software, (that is only accessible through the control panel) i could just slide the other audio source from 0 to 1 and HDMI was no longer greyed out.
