Ok, so I have installed the A10 Modded Bios and have my CPU (720qm) overclocked 5%.

I have also used the "AMD GPU Clock Tool" to overclock both my 5870's to 800mhz (engine clock) and 1100mhz (memory clock).

My CPU temp never got over 61c (according to HWinfo64)in any core the whole time I ran 3dmark 06 and my score is now 14065.

However, According to GPU-z my max temp during this time on "GPU Temp" and "GPU Temp 2" were 95c and 95.5c respectfully. Anybody got any advice as to how I can keep these temps down? I mean, am I just clocking the cards up too much? I was pretty certain others have mentioned settings similar to what I have done above as being stable on their systems.

have you done repaste on the video cards? I had mine overvolted using Trixx sapphire utility and mine was clocked at 880/1150 used mx4 and my temps where in that range, so if yours is not overvolted your should be at least 5-10 degrees cooler on load.

I have not done a repaste...was hoping not to have to get into that level of work to be honest.

The whole time I ran the test I never saw any odd screen glitches indicating excessive heat...is it possible that 3d Mark 06 just heats the suckers up alot? I was considering leaving the clocks up and playing an actual game for a while...but have been too chicken to actually try it as I am out of warrenty and dont want to spend a grand on new video cards.

06 is actually less graphic intensive than all other benches. Run Vantage. 06 is cpu intensive. Id suggest a repaste and new thermal pads.

I had also my 5870's @800/1100 (just flashed, not via software). Furmark would heat them up to 85 degrees or so, never reached 90 degrees. This was on stock paste and about 25 degrees room temp. Room temperature and using/not using a cooler will contribute quite a bit in your readings also.

Have you ever cleaned up your heatsink? and i mean clean them up properly, not only blowing air through the vents.

Repaste is not that difficult. I found out actually that i don't even need to remove the cards from the system, the heatsink can be dismounted without a problem so i can evoid also to handle the cards reducing the risk of damaging something

I am assuming he means take them out of the laptop and blow compressed air through them. I suppose I could repaste and do new thermal pads...we'll see. Maybe a laptop cooler (one of those aluminum ones) is in order as well.

    exactly :)

when i clean the heatsink i dismount the cards, clean the fins with a brush, blow them with comp. air, dismount the fans and clean the too removing the dust from the blades. That's my idea of proper cleaning :)
