Hey all - I just received my new m17x today. It shipped with he 150 watt power adapter. I've seen a few references on here that it needs the 240 watt - is this still true with R2 & the i7?

    Thanks for your help!

The 240W adaptor comes default with an M17xR2 that is ordered with either the 920XM CPU or the crossfire setup. Not sure if you need it otherwise.

    ^^^ What config you ordered? If it's a single card + non-extreme CPU, - Dell doesn't provide 240W.

Here are the basic specs - space black.

    Intel Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz (2.8 GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
    6GB DDR3 at 1333MHz
    17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)
1GB ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870
    128GB Solid State Drive
    Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW
    Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR

If they don't provide it - do I still need it? Will it make a big difference performance wise for my specs? Guess I'm looking to see if I need to order one (or two)?

the 150W PSU you received is correct. As before mentioned, unless you have Dual GPU's or the 920XM processor, you will receive the 150W Power brick. Unless you upgrade to those components in the future, no, you do not need it.

You dont really need it. You don't have an extreme CPU or daul graphic cards, those would likely push the amount of watts you may need. 150 watts is enough, and you don't need any more watts to supply for you unit.

Could someone or all post config's and power supply ratings that came with your system??
Manuf , Part number, Model Number of brick, output voltage and amperage , color of power plug LED at computer end of cable, memory, and cards in system

    (ie. Flextronics, J938H, GA240PE1-00 r00, 19.56volts, 12.3 amps, blue led, 4 gig 1333, 9400m and 2 each 280m's SLI)

I'd be interested in seeing the various types and configurations.

afaik there are only two parts numbers for the psu's and no variation in numbers for each specific one.

However, on my order page the part number for the 240W PSU is
    330-7841
