Ok If I go into Sleep or hybernation mode it will not exit out and the only way I can shut off is unplug and pull the battery out. Has anyone else had this issue.

Holding down the power buttion dose not shut the system off.

I had the exact same problem. I think it has to do with drivers since mine worked fine after a fresh install of win7 but before installing any drivers.

I had the same issue with 2 other laptops. M5550 and m17x. Then they fix the m17x and it started overheating. I had to wait for the M17x.

Well let me know what the new drivers are.

I'm not sure how exactly to fix it, I only had the problem when crossfire was disabled. I don't have my system to test with anymore but you could try the 10.3 beta drivers or the dell video drivers if you are using 10.3 already.

Not seeing the Catalyst 10.3 beta drivers. What a safe site to get it from. Check dell and they are a match.

This type of behavior is typically caused by the display driver. Try a clean install of the display driver.

    never had that problem
but sometimes if i put it into sleep and wake it up, the keyboard lights up but the screen is blank, i had to press the alienhead once, and it will turn off.
press it again and it would turn on and everything will be fine.

Ya I was going to do that about 2 hours ago but I move stuff from a usb drive to the hard drive to clean out that hard drive.

Now what I want to find out what are the best drivers and where to get them. Then move them all to a Flash drive and when I reinstall windows I will have them on hand.

Whenever I have seen this, it has always been display driver issue... On my nvidias it happened all the time unless I was on the 186.82 drivers.

Then I got my ATIs and went straight to the 10.3, well installed dell version and then upgraded to 10.3. I havent experienced that issue on that driver and I put my system to sleep all the time. Now I am still on the R1 at the moment.. Hope It is the same on the r2 when i get it.

Hi, I have an issue that follows along the lines of the sleep/shutdown problem.
When I set my computer to sleep, it all goes well but when I open the lid or press the power button to restore my session, the computer turns on, powers off and restarts almost instantly.
The sytem lights come on, the fans work but the screen stays dark (no backlight).
I have tried several display drivers with no success.
    Any tips?

Hit the space bar and you are ready to go! I had been in the same trouble, but since I accidentally came up with this miracle, it's been working perfectly.
