So anyways today while I was playing WoW I was getting absolutely horrid FPS, something like 10fps a second, and everything, everything was on low or turned off. This was naturally quite perplexing to me considering that I'm running with 5870s in CrossfireX. After having the game crap out on me several times I finally tried restarting, my computer but it didn't really help. Then I noticed that only one of my GPUs was actually hot, the other side was cool and no hot air was being blown out. I then updated to the latest CCC and it wouldn't let me enable CrossfireX so I figured that for some reason I had only been using one of my GPUs. After restarting again I was finally given the option to enable it, and I also checked the box so that I would get the graphic in the upper right corner to show if it was working or not, however when I booted up WoW again I didn't see the graphic, and the game continued to chug. I have absolutely no idea what is wrong or how to fix it. Granted maybe nothing is wrong, but I would really like to think that my nice 6 month old PC shouldn't be having problems running a 6 year old game.

Any ideas on what I can do?

What kind of power adapter do you have? Can you post its part number?

Also it is new or outlet model?

Do you have the new A10 BIOS installed? Mine did the same, sometimes lost the X-fire, and i needed to shut down, disconnect power and remove the battery, then insert all again and restart windows, and then X-fire worked again. Never got around to document it properly, but as i recall it often (if not everytime...) coincided with the known "not charging" problem....

Running BIOS ver. A10 for 4 days now, and haven't seen the problem since.

OK, i also am an avid wow player, and did suffer the choppy performance. I tried something really different than what everyone seems to sugest, and it worked very well.
The first thing I did was download the new drivers from ATI (non dell). They seem to have a better fps and also fixed an annoying problem with shadows on high mode.
Second, and this is the important part, I enabled DX11 on wow. I know, this should not have any bearing on the problem... but all I can say is that it did wonders for my frames and video quality. To do this, just right click your wow launch icon, and add this at the end of teh target line

    -d3d11

Notice that there is a space... so basically after the quotation mark hit space and type -d3d11

Again, do not ask me why or how. And i am not even responsible if this makes things worse, but for me... it was a Godsend :)

download GPU-z ad HWmonitor and check your CPU and GPU temps. Either a card might be bad (since you said it was cool and appeared off) and or your temps on the CPU/GPU could be too high causing serious throttling. I am inclined to think it is NOT the latter as you seem to get consistently low FPS and no spikes. You may be looking at a bad card. Then again, with one card you should get way more than 10FPS on low. So it could very well be software related

Yeah something is definitely wrong, with the ATI 11.1 drivers on my 4870 crossfire I'm able to get around 60fps in all locations (except the busiest where it may drop down to 40 or ). I'm running all settings on either High or Ultra...so clearly something is not working correctly.

Yeah, I ended up just turning it off and waiting a bit, unplugged it and then tried playing l4d2, to double check the Xfire, I noticed the red icon instantly so I knew it was finally re-enabled, then I booted up wow and saw it there as well. I do have all the latest bios stuff, I remember when they came out and I had to flash my stuff and what not. FPS seems fine now, thanks for the advice everyone, this place is really helpful ^^
