I know that there are many issues with the battery charging and this model, but i'm looking for some answers to a particular situation... i recently bought a new battery for my system cuz i LITERALLY broke the last one. so upon receiving the battery that came dead (i dont know if that's normal) i put it in, and left it to charge overnight before putting the system on. when i put the system on, it says that my battery has 0% plugged in, not charging... i began to google/search this forum and found many makeshift solutions and none of which worked for me. when i press the charge indicator on the battery itself while still connected to the paptop, the FIRST, MIDDLE, and LAST light blinks. (nothing happens when i press it while it's not in the laptop) can someone please tell me what does those blinking arrangement mean, and how can i get my laptop to start charging again?.. even if there's a board issue that someone may be able to point out i'm willing to try the repair

thank you in advance for your time..

Did you purchase the battery through Dell?

Open the start menu and type "msinfo32", around the 10th line you'll find your BIOS version. The latest BIOS for the M17x R2 is A10, if you're running an older version you can download it here.

If the battery behaves the same way try a power drain. (Remove the battery and AC adapter, press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds, reconnect both and give it a go)

Try those steps and let us know how it goes.

thank you for your reply, but i'm currently running the a10 modded bios. (i already tried the original one and had no success) and i already did a power drain. ooh but one thing tho, would the bios be able to interfere with the laptop charging even while it's switched off?? cuz it doesn't charge while off either... and do u know what it means when only the first, middle, and last indicator light on the battery lights up when i press it?

It sounds like a broken battery, as far as I'm concerned those are charge lights and not diagnosis lights so there's not much to infer from them. If you purchased the battery through Dell send me a PM and I'll look into it.

You can still try to get it replaced by the seller.
