This could be totally normal, only i have had a few laptops and they dont do this.

If i was to bootup my M17x on battery, you get a loud double beep then an option to load windows etc etc or plug in the power cord.

Is this normal, its not an issue as such but as i say i have never known it on my other laptops.

You should be able to turn the beeping off in the BIOS.

Yes, it is. It scared the hell out of me the first time I head it - I thought there was a hardware error and that's why it wouldn't boot! :)

It's just giving you a heads up to get maximum performance from the laptop to plug in the ac adapter. It is really a loud obnoxious beep though lol

While it is annoyingly loud, I do like the fact that if for some reason it came unplugged I will know about it on boot up. So I leave it enabled.

I guess if I was going to a classroom/meeting/library with it I would have to disable that feature though.

I wish they would get rid of the psychotic and gut curdling beep that occurs just for pressing F2 to get into setup. I guess it's there to let you know that your keystroke registered and you're going to get what you want, but they could just display an "entering setup" piece of text whenever u press it...

Or even a speaker beep adjust in BIOS, that way you could turn it way down so you barely hear it.
