    hello everyone,

recently ive been upgrading my m17x.
after destroying my old motherboard, i ordered a second hand replacement.
    and installed it.
after about a week running everything, it stopped recognizing the power adapter.
it gives a prompt when booting.
and when i enter the bios it doesnt show the adapter at all.
i know the adapter is good(tested it on a other dell laptop)

i sent it to a computer shop.
they replaced the dc jack on the motherboard.
and i havent heard from them since.
i am afraid this wil not solve the issue.

is it just a faulty motherboard or something else?

    please forgive my poor english.

You could try updating the BIOs, if that does not work then the motherboard may need to be replaced.

    thanks to everyone for replying.
just as an update, i sent my machine to an computer shop near me.
they have a 24h repair service, and finally after a month they fixed it for me.
they had to resolder the dcjack twice and replace my battery.
when it boots up it still gives the error in the boot popup.
but when i enter windows i can see it charging again.
i am just happy its finally working again, and that i can continue to install my crossfire setup. :D

Great to here. I was going to suggest a resolder as well. Nothing else (that isn't out of the ordinary) would prevent a laptop from charging.
