Hello, I got my m17x like last year, it has an hd 5870... never had any problems in any games and never had to update any drivers till now... launched battlefield, played fine for an hour or so and then it crashed, now battlefield 3 wont load up (crashes on startup) so I guess it's time to upgrade my old drivers, problem is I know you can't just upgrade notebook drivers like that, and I was wondering if anyone can help me and give me a guide or something on how to install drivers for the alienware m17x r2, i think there are special custom made drivers for it? (im not looking for beta 11.10, just the 11.9 i guess)
Anyways I'm not sure if I have the base dell drivers since im kinda forgetful and i dont remember doing any upgrades but ir dosent hurt to take caution so here is a screenshot of my catalyst

Please anyone?

i am also having the driver problem. for me i am having FPS issues in the game especially with crossfire.
-
It's possible they didn't enable crossfire support, that or you "Have" to get the 11.10 ones first for xfire setups.
-
another problem is that i cannot use official driver from ATI website every times i install it the error pop up and say [Application install: install package failure]
-
Okay so if we have to get 11.10 or 11.9 how exactly do we get it, we cant exactly just go to their webiste and download em and isntall right?

SOMEONE PLEASEEE!
im stuck with a "useless" "bricked" laptop until someone can help me and teach me how to install ati 10.9 drivers for the m17x r2
-
First download the ones from the Dell support site.
Restart the computer in safe mode, and uninstall the 11.6-7-8 drivers u have.
Install the Dell ones, then restart, then install the later mobility one u want.
Yeah, its a pain in the butt. -
Oh boy, do i install the dell drivers and the mobility ones while in safe mode? And for dell drivers there are 2 options, one says video drivers and the other says video BIOS which one do i download
-
The driver, you don't need the bios. It's better to install in safe mode if your not used to it.
-
i currently have the driver from dell website but everytime i install the driver from ATI website it said [Application install: install package failure]
-
I cant delete the drivers through control panel, is it safe to use the device manager?
