    Hi guys,

I did something strange and wanted to know if anyone else got this error:

I had an M17x R1 chassis - basically everything sans the motherboard. The chassis had all the connectors for the USB ports, speakers etc already in place.

I transferred a working R2 motherboard into that chassis. Everything works except for SOUND! Windows detects the onboard HD soundcard and drivers install fine.

However, there's no speaker output, there's no headphone output, when you plug in anything into the speaker outputs nothing is detected (I checked the speaker connectors to the mobo and the output board to the mobo - all fine).

If you look at the right side of an M17x R1 you see the speaker outputs are all different colors (color coded). On the R2 all outputs are BLACK. Could it be that the sound output board (which incidentally included 2x USB as well which work fine) and speakers (which are wired completely independently from the sound output board) are not compatible between R1 and R2??

Sorry, its a bit complicated but if anyone has done this mobo transfer without transferring the speakers/sound output from an R2 can you please let me know of your experiences? Or if anyone knows whats going on? Are the part numbers the same??

R1 and R2 use different OSD programs....which control sound volume and mute! Whichever one you are using now....try the other one....or if that doesn't work...uninstall OSD altogether and use only windows sound control functions. Last resort....reinstall CLEAN version of windows (which has a organic driver for the sound card) and see if that works!

Yes, those daughter boards may be incompatible, especially since you say there are usb ports and other things on it. Are you using the R2 version of the board or the R1? Did you not use the R2 version because it didn't fit?
