    Hello,

I have had my screen replaced by Dell on my R2 once. Today I noticed the screen bundle did not have a webcam installed. The "socket" on top of the screen where the webcam should be was empty.

I bought this computer brand new, so it is not a refurb. The screen replacement was done by Dell.

    1) I do not want to go through another screen replacement, so will Dell be able to put in a webcam without replacing the screen bundle?

    2) I do not use the webcam at all, so if I do not bother to alert the support about the missing webcam, will my warranty still be valid?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies + rep for both of you.

I watched the "M17x teardown" video. It seemed like everything was in one bundle, so I dont know how they will fix in that webcam.

I will wait and see what Dell will do about this.

Dell doesn't always ship the assemblies with the webcam and mic. They are detachable from the assembly anyway.

Thanks for the reply. + rep for you too.

It is a relief to hear that they are detachable.

I assume they will need to dismantle the entire laptop again. Is it a good alternative to just ask for an external webcam instead of having to go through all this trouble again? As I am a paranoid of getting my paint scratched

    Thanks.

If they scratch the paint they will just have to replace that too. You should always fight for what is rightfully yours. You paid for a nice laptop, so you should receive a nice laptop. Sometimes, people make mistakes. As long as it gets taken care of in the end, no harm done!

Hope you get it fixed soon!
