    Hi,

Apart from the candy white mod done to the R2, is there any other cool cosmetic mods i could do or something to add functionality.

Would have thought loads of modders would have flocked to modding alienware laptops but havent seen many.

    unless im missing them.

    thanks
    OC

Well, DR650SE did the candy white mod, I believe Katalin or one of the other Admins made their m17x Nvidia green. Other than adding a third hard drive using an optical bay caddy or modding an m18x's 300W PSU to work with our R2s so you can upgrade to an AMD 7970m crossfire setup, there's not a whole lot of physical modding you can do.

i was thinking to do a LCD mod, by adding a small lcd display on the palm rest.
could use it to display system info like temps and other stats.

there are a few ways i could do this, only if i could connect directly to a usb header on the motherboard somewhere and also gain access to a 12v supply inside the computer.
    Can anyone help with this?

want to try mod this into the palmrest:

    Hi man,

This LCD regrettably won't fit the place you want to put it. Reason for that is the depth of the LCD and the space you have bellow the palm rest. Actually the space between the components and the palm rest is veeery small.
If you want to put some kind of a display there, the only option I can think of a touchscreen phone and I mean one of the really slim phones. From there you can work your way and you'll have a nice addition to the laptop - how useful is another matter though :)

This display is just bulky, while the phones' displays and board are designed to be very slim and in there lies your chance

Hey, if you want a LCD display that is already USB, look into the first and 2nd gen g15 keyboard, get get them on eBay for 40$ , cut the LCD module out, dissconnect keyboard, and the program for the applets will still work, idk how you could put it on the palm rests, but up front by the monitor by the speakers is a possibility. I can remember the source, but I was just looking t it, but the stronger point about this is it has a wide verities you apps and programs already for it, and already wired.

    Logitech G15 LCD Panel

That should help you with the idea for a USB LCD panel. Then with this ( LCDHost Alpha 25 | linkdata.se) you can make your own custom screen layout, I am putting mine in my palm rest by the front vent, just gong to take a dremel, cut it out, put the board, make tiny custom hinges for my LCD, and wire it to a USB port. Boom, done.
